There’s talk that @wesstreeting is looking at student loan forgiveness instead of pay restoration for Resident Doctors Let’s set aside arguments about fairness and consider what each option could mean in raw financial terms vs the 5.4% offer this year for Doctors earnings
An English Resident Doctor agreement built on a Student Loan based deal, will be a deal they live to regret.
This clip is from Jeremy Vine show Nash & Leng are both on the same show- time stamp 29:45 onwards bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…
*IMPORTANT* Response from @NHSEngland in response to @lengreview post @wesstreeting @DHSCgovuk accepting recommendations. Do have a read. For attention of @NHSEmployers et al re PA/PAA england.nhs.uk/publication/re…
1/ Now the embargo has lifted, I’ve had time to read the @lengreview in full. While some celebrate minor cosmetic wins, I see the formal entrenchment of a parallel, underqualified medical workforce — built without medical training.
Still lots of people paying their respects to Diogo Jota at Anfield after 11pm. A good 100 yards now full of flowers, messages and tributes.
Leng review set to publish w/c 7th July - co-incidentally several new PA jobs have been published on NHS jobs ranging from GP, Gen Med, to Micro. An insight into what is to come?
*NEWS* Report re Role of Physician Associates & Anaesthesia Associates aka @lengreview Will be published w/c 7th July What will it bring? Closure or fracas? This was my prediction from Nov 24 as to where this will all lead to. Let me know how I did nhssugardoc.blogspot.com/2024/11/crysta…
You recommended a real terms pay cut to the DDRB for us whilst claiming you were on a journey to full pay restoration. Were you driving backwards?
The Government has changed. The approach has changed (28.9% pay rise for resident doctors!) Time for the BMA’s tactics to change. Work with a government that wants to work with you.
NHS salary for a fully qualified cancer neurosurgeon (with minimum of 15 years of training) at a big London centre: £33k - £53k
The UK needs a hard reset
About five weeks ago I remarked to a colleague that I had an unusual sensation in my chest. “The only way I can describe it is like someone is inflating a balloon behind my sternum” We both had a laugh as it’s a long-running gag in ED that my aorta will get me…
Urgh, I think about this weekly
Consultant took us for coffee after the ward round 🥰 Then told us about a famous surgeon whoms works were held in a local museum near his university. I asked did he ever meet him ‘No Beth as he was alive in the 1600’s’ 🥲 🥲
With a 40 hour week this works out at £12.26 an hour. Doctors undergo six years of med school and some have 100k of debt. @NHSBartsHealth wants doctors to make life or death decisions for close to minimum wage. Does this seem right to you?
Had a psychiatry offer for my top choice, I have no clue what to do 😭 completely and utterly stuck between that and my GP offer How do I decide? I genuinely really like both
No offer for Psychiatry training but got my first choice offer for GP training 🤯🤯🤯🤯 I have been completely on the fence between the two, for years; maybe what will be, will be? Love forensic psych but also love the idea of being a GP within mental health services!
Done a BSc in Psych, worked a job in psych within foundation, did a psych taster, teaching in psych, good MSRA score & that may still not be enough 🤯
Oriel update - 7845 people applied to core psych for ~400 jobs 🤯 appreciate some of this will be people who’ve thrown in an application just in case - but that is WILD My MSRA score last year would’ve got me roughly a rank in the top 100 but this year it’s top 800, what?!
