What you need to know about the risks of antidepressants in pregnancy mol.im/a/14943263 via @MailOnline
Good to note the importance of informing the risks to the régnant mother. But where is Dr Healy? Pssd or 2009 paxil birth defect lawsuits? consultant360.com/exclusive/fda-…
Dr. Healy is a real one. I’ve corresponded with him trying to figure out the root cause of PSSD. we discussed propofol as a possible clue. Most doctors have zero interest in investigating. it’s a little pathetic esp when you see how hard they market themselves as experts
"You halt the drug, you try to withdraw because you want to get pregnant, but you lose your ability to function sexually for the rest of your life—this is Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction." @DrDavidHealy speaking at the @US_FDA Expert Panel on SSRIs and Pregnancy on July 21st.
The media coverage of the FDA SSRI/pregnancy meeting has had inaccuracies. One article claimed I spread misinformation by noting "SSRIs' link to autism." This isn't misinformation. Many animal & human studies have shown this. Fig 1 (below) is from a 2024 article in BMC…
No mother is comforted by half-truths — least of all when it concerns her child. Hiding the rest because it’s uncomfortable? That’s not care. Doctors, you do not have a monopoly on health.
I always find it shocking — and frankly dishonest — when doctors claim to care for patients by withholding the full truth, supposedly to avoid deterring them from seeking necessary care. Especially toward mothers.
this is criminal. My Great nephew & his parents have suffered greatly due to their infant being exposed in utero to SSRI'S. They were told it was perfectly safe. He was born with craniosynostosis & had to be airlifted at birth to a children's hospital. He's 3 & still affected 😡
Around 30% of babies exposed to SSRIs/SNRIs in the third trimester of the mother's pregnancy experience withdrawal. Psychiatry uses the euphemism 'NAS' to refer to this withdrawal. The long-term effects of prolonged exposure "have yet to be determined" jamanetwork.com/journals/jamap…
Antidepressant withdrawal and online support 2025 update Last August, I pointed out that over 100,000 people were in Facebook groups trying to get help for antidepressant withdrawal, and that Surviving Antidepressants was getting over 200,000 visits a month. Less than a year…
Antidepressant withdrawal and online support We keep getting told that psychiatrists have never seen antidepressant withdrawal or that it is at best minimal. Online tells a different story. There are currently over 100,000 people in Facebook support groups desperately trying…

There is no overall evidence that SSRIs are unsafe during pregnancy, and in fact SSRIs can be lifesaving for pregnant women with mood & anxiety disorders. That's a key point of a letter APA sent today to U.S. FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary, expressing its alarm over some of…

I want to introduce the APA to David. He spent his first eight months in and out of hospital. At 11 days old, he had his first heart surgery and was connected to machines for five weeks. Doctors say he may not live beyond 40. His mother was prescribed Citalopram before pregnancy.

I love the APA and want it to succeed, but I am not sure that this statement is most representative of the sources they cite. To say "There is no overall evidence that SSRIs are unsafe during pregnancy" They cite Clarke et al. 2023's white paper, which indeed says "Recent…

-Serotonin plays a crucial role in fetal development & SSRIs disrupt the serotonin system. -SSRI use in pregnancy has been associated with miscarriage, birth defects, preterm birth, postpartum hemorrhage, NICU admission, & other issues. -SSRIs alter fetal brain development, with…
