Gently, I am going to drift a bit more into the background of my advocacy path - guided by my own commitment to patient care and my community ☮️to all

A day in the life of a small town coastal doctor: Today I was invited aboard a 265’ yacht in Hardy Bay to provide childhood vaccinations This was special to me for a few reasons - I believe vaccination to be the most important health intervention possible and I love boats.

We need Health Canada to have a serious look at our medication supply chains. We have commonly used essential generic drugs that are not available because of manufacturing and supply chain issues. Spironolactone is now not available. This is a generic and very important…
It’s because the corrupt wellness/influencer industry purchases what they can in bulk at low cost - generic antiparasitics like ivermectin hydroxychloroquine fenbendazole fit the bill - then they jack up the price and pair the meds with expensive telehealth visits. It’s pure scam
Bravo @courtghoward for innovative leadership - filling gaps where required - this is what MD healthcare leadership looks like cc: @Josie_Osborne @janephilpott @MLABrennanDay @DrKindyMLA: We need more MD leadership, less Health Authority bureaucracy cbc.ca/news/canada/no…
As a father to a young daughter, as a hockey player, as a family doctor to many young men and women, the #HockeyCanada verdict hits hard. @HockeyCanada paid EM a settlement. Don’t forget that. We need a major shift in hockey and sports culture. I believe women. #MeToo
A government good at growing the public sector and seemingly not much else. On healthcare, bureaucracy has ballooned and access to care has diminished. Diminishing returns, David Eby’s British Columbia. @MLABrennanDay @DrKindyMLA
Sobering read from @RobShaw_BC 1/2🧵 Veteran economists Jock Finlayson & Ken Peacock say “government operating & capital spending became completely untethered from economic reality” shortly after Premier David Eby blew through a $6-B surplus in 2023. biv.com/news/commentar…
As a psychiatrist, I've talked to dozens--if not hundreds--of people who attempted suicide and later regretted it. Or who thought about it at a low point in their life but didn't have the energy/motivation to do it--and were gloriously happy to be alive later. The nature of…
I almost died by suicide fifteen years ago while battling depression. If the expansion of MAID coming into force in 2027 were in place then, I'd likely be dead right now. Today, I'm launching the #IGotBetter campaign to keep hope alive for people living with mental illness.
It is critically important that we recognize that mental health care is healthcare. Fighting the stigma that comes with mental health is the first step to taking meaningful action. Hat's off to both of these gentlemen for being unafraid to speak up.
Thank you for raising this and using your voice, @AndrewLawton. 19 years ago, I experienced the same battle and nearly died by suicide as a result. The last thing we should do is tell people struggling with mental illness that there is no hope. Andrew got better. I got better.…
Hockey Canada didn’t pay a settlement to E.M. for no reason. Remember that.
Universal healthcare is who we are as Canadians. It’s one of the things that sets us a part from the U.S. and we should be proud of that. Let’s keep it strong and make sure it serves everyone, in every region. It’s our heritage, our legacy and something we should all be proud of.
🚨 ER CRISIS: 141,961 British Columbians walked into an emergency room in 2024/25 and left without care. That’s an 86% increase since 2018 — and Island Health is the worst in the province with a 160% spike. This is what NDP neglect looks like. Lives are at risk. #bcpoli…
New Rule: Minimize paperwork for family doctors and primary care providers. Biggest offender: Health Authorities Family doctors running private practices need to maximise efficiency. Health Authorities minimise efficiency by increasing bureaucracy. @DrKindyMLA @MLABrennanDay
It’s busy all over town.. and our daily Walk-In Clinic is no exception! Secret is out - we offer more accessible primary care options than just about anywhere in BC. Spread the word if you have visitors, customers or others than need care on our North Island @DrKindyMLA
BC is being called out for the least-transparent process in Canada for funding medications for rare diseases. Ottawa provides 194 million to fund rare diseases so where is that money going? People and children with rare diseases often have little options and a trial with…
No one is surprised at this tale of incompetence by B.C. health bureaucrats. @Rob Shaw: Island Health's ER wait times highlight tech gaps in B.C. health care - Business in Vancouver biv.com/news/commentar…
Absolutely right.
In the early 90's the BC government decreased medical school admission. Things being said at the time was there are too many doctors and "a hospital bed built is a hospital bed filled". Now if we look a the demographic of physicians ie how many are set to retire in the next five…
I’ve never seen people from all ends of the political spectrum unite over an issue like #SaveCharleigh (excluding some NDP loyalists who are naive enough to think this couldn’t happen to them or their loved ones). It’s almost like the vast majority of British Columbians actually…

I am meeting Island Health at Port Hardy Hospital today. Hopefully they have a concrete plan to open Port Hardy emergency department 24/7. Anything less is unacceptable.
