Israel brought international journalists into Gaza to view the large stockpiles of aid that the UN failed to distribute, while screaming about famine. Now they have been exposed, UN have resumed distribution, with 270+ truckloads of aid delivered yesterday and today.
Is the Supreme Court "extremist?" The Court took a position favored by a majority of voters in EVERY major case this term. Criticize the Court all you want for its constitutional fidelity, but it's not out of step with the public. H/T @WakeUp2Politics substack.com/home/post/p-16…
I’ll make the NEA a deal: when public schools provide the majority of students with a comprehensive education experience that results in 85% of non-special education students performing at or above grade level, we can have this conversation about homeschooling.
I'm seeing this clip all over as if this were every home in America mid 19th century. The answer is that it was a 3.5-hour movie. Then we went home.
What happened to this America? Where did it go?
Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.
For some perspective, this is 0.168% of what the US Government will spend in FY2025.
🚨 BREAKING: The Senate passed a $9B rescission package slashing funding for public broadcasting (@PBS + @NPR) and foreign aid—the biggest move of its kind in 30+ years. Now it’s up to the House. Here's how a recission works and how prior administrations have used this mechanism…

Indeed, and what we're living in more and more. We don't trust each other to play by traditional norms, so we excuse our own deviations (the other side will break them as soon as possible, don't be a sucker).
What is a “low trust society?” When everyone is afraid and believe that when others gain they lose. “Public” virtue is tribal, racial, ideological, sectarian religious, or class oriented, which is at odds with a democratic republic protecting natural rights and the rule of law.
I'm about a quarter of the way through and enjoying it very much so far. I had been worried after reading the WSJ review.
Fascinating @RonRadosh review of the Sam Tanenhaus biography of William F. Buckley, at @Quillette (with some great material about Ron's own interactions with WFB) quillette.com/2025/07/09/buc…
I'm not certain what the conceptual difference is between an endowment tax and a wealth tax. The former taxes income that may never have been taxed but is this a distinction without a difference?
Substack charges too much and Twitter charges too little.
On this day, 250 years ago, this guy started a new job and it was game on for the United States of America.

. @WilliamBaude "Over the weekend I felt like I was reading two different conversations about universal injunctions and the Court’s decision. One was a conversation about technical legal issues — The second one was doesn’t the Court realize that The Republic Is At Risk, etc."
The people running @utulsa have no idea what they're doing. Huge step back for what could have been a world class institution.
Now for some personal news: today is my last day as Dean. I was stunned to be informed by our new provost there will no longer be a Dean of Honors, period. Nor an Assistant Dean. Rather, I was told there will be a “director” of honors--but that person will not be me. (12/21)
