“When asked to describe her involvement in overriding the DRD’s recommendation to fire Sutton & Zabavsky, Smith told Bromwich that she didn’t read the investigative report (& generally doesn’t review those materials, even when termination is recommended).” washingtoncitypaper.com/article/768144…
Ahead of possible movement on the Commanders stadium deal, @CMWendellFelder has released a draft Community Benefits Agreement his office produced after multiple community meetings. The 23-page draft includes requests on jobs, housing, transportation, tickets, and more.
Just talked to @ChmnMendelson on the show. He suggested the past DC opposition of the team moving back into the city while named Redskins had more to do with Dan Snyder than the name. Suggested he would have no problem with DC welcoming the team back with the name Redskins now.

Updated special Ward 8 CM election results posted at 3:14pm today:

Interesting, since this Friday is *4 days before* 461+ public witnesses are scheduled to testify at a DC Council hearing on the “Robert F. Kennedy Campus Redevelopment Act of 2025” (B26-288) & *5 days before* executives & reps of the Washington Commanders testify…
A hypothetical CA 49-3 House Dem redraw: Completely adheres to the Voting Rights Act and probably defeats 6 Republican incumbents. Really up to incumbent House Dems about how aggressive they want to be, if there's a redraw and the legislature gets the power to draw it...
And also, after this Thursday, the House is in recess through September 1 (2 weeks before the DC Council formally returns from its own summer recess). I don’t see both chambers of Congress passing a bill changing the terms of the enacted RFK legislation between now and then…
The lease the federal government signed with D.C. can’t be undone because the president doesn’t like the team name. (Well, at least not if the law is followed.) The only way to block the deal would be through Congress, which is urging D.C. to speed the approval of said deal.
I will use every tool at my disposal to stop the riders in the bill text from becoming law, and I commit to reminding my fellow lawmakers across the aisle that D.C. residents deserve the same consideration as their own constituents at every opportunity.
In my career representing DC in Congress, I've rarely seen a DC appropriations bill as unreasonable and patronizing to the 700k+ DC residents as the one released today. Statement: bit.ly/44F1VSd
“This legislation: Includes over 60 new, problematic, or pointless policy riders […] instead of addressing the issues that matter most to the American people, House Republicans are micromanaging the District of Columbia’s health and traffic laws.” democrats-appropriations.house.gov/news/press-rel…
NEWS: A proposed Republican spending bill includes a number of provisions impacting D.C. laws and programs. The bill would: - Repeal D.C.'s assisted suicide law. - Prohibit D.C. from using traffic cameras, or to ban rights turns on red. - Repeal non-citizen voting in D.C.
I think too many people are over-estimating the role Trump has in making a deal to get the Commanders a new stadium in D.C. The land’s lease is held by D.C., the deal is before the D.C. Council, and federal law prohibits any federal funds being spent on a stadium.
President Donald Trump is doubling down. He says he won’t make a deal for the team to build a new stadium if they don’t change their name back to the Washington Redskins. Buckle up.

Trump says he may block the deal to move the Commanders back to DC unless they re-adopt a racist team name
“Grassroots”
1st PRO-stadium grassroots group RFK Now! releases new poll showing 65% of DC voters favor taxpayer funded Commanders Stadium despite $1.1 Bil price tag. Group driven by small buisness owners demanding economic development, calling for DC Council approval. wusa9.com/article/news/i…
Is RFK Now! a grassroots group, though? It’s an initiative of Opportunity D.C., an independent expenditure group that has received tens of thousands of dollars from real estate companies, the Graham family (former WaPo owners), and more.

RFK NEWS: The D.C. Council's independent assessment of the Commanders stadium deal is now public. Plenty to dig into in the 23-page analysis (including 5 takeaways below), but this stands out: The current deal "lacks formal constraints on public financial exposure."
CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery. America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons. Watch and share his message.
The House GOP majority on the Appropriations Committee will publicly release the bill text and summary of its FY26 Financial Services-General Government spending bill on Sunday evening, 24 hours before the subcommittee markup. All of the DC riders will be in this one…
