A hypothetical CA 49-3 House Dem redraw: Completely adheres to the Voting Rights Act and probably defeats 6 Republican incumbents. Really up to incumbent House Dems about how aggressive they want to be, if there's a redraw and the legislature gets the power to draw it...

🚨Dem Dr. Bains makes it official for her run against Rep David Valadao. The powers that be at the top of the party have said this is our candidate, so she’s probably going to rack up a lot of endorsements quickly. She ran about 15 points ahead of the top of the ticket in Nov
Why? Because our representative, Republican David Valadao, just cast a vote to rip away healthcare that covers 68% of the people in my district — the largest Medicaid cut in U.S. history. All to give tax breaks to billionaires. So I’m stepping up to run — because I’ve seen how…
I can’t recall a summer where we had June gloom almost all the way to August in LA. Such a cool, gloomy start to the summer. Feels like we’re turning into San Francisco.
The CA41 Dem primary will be getting even more crowded Former Norco Councilor Katherine Aleman and school board member Abel Chavez are launching their campaigns. Aleman has the support of former US Senator Barbara Boxer They join businessman Brandon Riker and lawyer Anuj Dixit

Still just taken aback about how quickly CA redistricting has escalated. Initially thought Newsom was just bluffing, but it’s all very real. CA Dem leaders are cooking. They aren’t messing around!
Bakersfield Councilmember Andrae Gonzales announced his campaign for State Assembly in District 35. bit.ly/3IDgo8B
A) Democrats would never screw over the Latino community, but instead of having 60%+ Latino seats, 50.01% could mean that Dem voters get spread more efficiently. 2) I think I could draw Young Kim out of her seat with my eyes closed. It’s pretty easy.

This data is for just the Kern County (Bakersfield) portion of the district but its most of CA22's voteshare, and overwhelmingly the Dem base of the district.
If Dems, led by Dr. Bains, are going to defeat David Valadao, Dem turnout is going to have to be much more like 2018 than 2022 If Rudy Salas had gotten 2018 level of turnout in 2022, he almost certainly wins Dems have to activate these predominantly young, Latino voters in 2026

I’m Dr. Jasmeet Bains — a family and addiction doctor, daughter of immigrants, and the first Sikh American elected to the California Legislature. Today, I’m officially launching my campaign for Congress in California’s 22nd district.
Did you vote for this? Thank you @UFWupdates for bringing George’s story to light. And thank you George for everything you’ve done for our country. Shame on this administration.
Prop 52 in 2026 gonna be like: “For the purposes of redistricting, shall the State of California empower its duly elected representatives to draw political districts in lieu of the tyrannical, unelected bureaucrats of the Independent Redistricting Commission?”
Gov. @GavinNewsom tells @TheTNHoller that if @GregAbbott_TX does mid-decade redistricting to help Rs, California may do the same — “with two-thirds majorities in the legislature, could gerrymander like no other state.” He says California has been “playing fair” with an…
💔What devastating news. Santa Clarita Democrats have lost a real one. The Kampbell family has donated countless hours of their free time doing anything and everything they could to give back to their community, and help elect Dems. Sending all the love to my friend Michelle
Sending all my love to the Kampbell family upon hearing of the loss of Chad, an amazing father, husband, and Santa Clarita leader. We will keep Michelle and all his loved ones in our prayers.
