RFK might be getting all the ink, but lobbying filings suggest DC United/the Washington Spirit are majorly stepping up the push to renovate Audi Field. They've hired Tom Daschle's firm/ArentFox Schiff (home of ex-CM David Grosso, among others) and paid them up to $15k monthly...
My congressional Bingo card has plenty of weird stuff on it, but "House never votes to fix $1.1 billion hole it created in D.C. budget because it goes on vacay early because Jeffrey Epstein" isn't one of them.
Breaking news: The US House Speaker has shut the congressional chamber until September, as Donald Trump’s allies seek to contain a spiralling crisis over the administration’s handling of the Epstein case. on.ft.com/46sKypb
Just talked to @ChmnMendelson on the show. He suggested the past DC opposition of the team moving back into the city while named Redskins had more to do with Dan Snyder than the name. Suggested he would have no problem with DC welcoming the team back with the name Redskins now.
88-year-old D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton tells me this AM: “I’m certainly going to run for reelection.” (Her office has repeatedly walked this back already: axios.com/2025/06/25/nor…)

One week later, convos continue about @trayonwhite's special election victory and his plans once he fully returns to the D.C. Council. My @WashInformer story explains. washingtoninformer.com/ward-8-communi…
I’m curious to see how this would work, since two council committees are reviewing the stadium bill and the first step would have to be a markup where changes could be made to the deal. With public hearings next Tuesday/Wednesday, that is a very speedy turn.
News: Council Chair Phil Mendelson is planning a first vote on the RFK stadium deal as soon as NEXT Friday, per a source. (Fixed from last tweet!) Lawmakers will need to vote a 2nd time: it's unclear when. Some CMs have bristled at this coming right after next week's hearing...
Interesting: A new Bike, Walk, and Bus political action campaign is launching in D.C. with the aim of "supporting local D.C. candidates in the 2026 elections who advocate for sustainable transportation solutions."

We’ve heard about the impact that defunding public broadcasting will have on PBS and NPR — but there’s also the effect it has on small, rural operations like PBS Appalachia in SW VA. GM Julie Newman explains on The Final 5.

Residential neighborhoods with no sidewalks just make no sense to me. Once you factor in cars parked on the street, there's simply no safe place for kids to play or walk (other than their front yard). It's basically everything for cars, nothing for anyone else.
