2/2 This was a previously unknown population of the native species at Burley and the discovery is great news! The find is despite an extensive population of the invasive signal crayfish across the Wharfe catchment, which puts the native species at risk through disease.
1/2 We’ve rescued a population of native white clawed crayfish in Wharfedale after drought conditions left them stranded. They’ve been moved to a safe quarantine and after a health check they will be returned to rivers to support crayfish conservation in #Yorkshire.
