I had to add my own photo with Chancellor Tien. Taken in San Antonio at a tailgate before the Alamo Bowl. He epitomized everything that was -- and still is -- great about Cal. GO BEARS!!!
Chang-Lin Tien, beloved @UCBerkeley Chancellor (1990-1997) was born July 24, 1935. An immigrant from China, Tien earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Princeton and became a Cal professor in 1959. He was the first Asian American to lead a major American university.
Loved this man. Chancellor Tien was the best!!
