Can we use RNA to insert kilobases of DNA into the human genome, opening up a new way to engineer cells or treat disease? Excited to share our latest work turning a retrotransposon (a “jumping gene” with an RNA intermediate) from songbirds into a genome editing tool. 🧵 (1/7)
Excited to share Deep-STARmap and Deep-RIBOmap! We enabled spatial transcriptomic and translatomic mapping of >1K genes in 200 µm thick tissue and neuron morphology co-profiling. Thanks @WangXiaoLab for unwavering support; Jennifer for human skin study! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
The July issue is live nature.com/nbt/volumes/43… On the cover, Chen et al. have developed a precise chemo-enzymatic method to synthesize and modify protein-coding mRNA to optimize functionality and pharmacokinetics go.nature.com/47EXbfq
Thrilled to share our latest preprint regarding STAgent, a multimodal AI agent for spatial transcriptomics.: (1/9) Check our manuscript at: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… and demo at: youtu.be/aEUop05RINY

My postdoctoral work is finally out! Please consider retweeting. I am very proud of this project. I want to thank my wonderful advisors @mbarnalab and @jkpritch and collaborators Theo Susanto, @xsui98, @WangXiaoLab, @spence_jeffrey_, and many others for a major team effort!
1/9 We show that Human ribosomes have different rRNA sequences, predominantly indels. These include abundant variants such as GGC indels, which form different structures. We visualize variants in single cells and associate them with development and cancer. doi.org/10.1016/j.xgen…
Thrilled to share the latest work out of my lab at @CellCellPress on neuropeptidergic neurons in the dorsal raphe that regulate satiation. (cell.com/cell/fulltext/…). Led by Srikanth Chowdhury, Nachi Kamatkar, and Wendy Wang (from Xiao Wang's lab). Congrats to an incredible team!

Happy to share CAST as the "BLAST" tool for spatial omics, searching and aligning similar patterns across datasets while revealing their differences with prototype demo of querying new data against reference spatial atlas and comparative spatial studies👇rdcu.be/dULBj
CAST enables physical alignment of spatial omics data across replicates, techs, modalities at single-cell resolution. Such accurate alignment enables spatial atlas searching, unbiased DEG identification, and reconstruction of spatial multi-omics. DM for questions and collabs!
Chemical and topological design of multicapped mRNA and capped circular RNA to augment translation go.nature.com/47EXbfq
With the growing availability of spatial omics data from different techniques, CAST offers a computational tool for reconstructing single-cell multi-omic profiles and downstream analysis in a spatially resolved manner. @WangXiaoLab nature.com/articles/s4159…
Spatial omics technology is transforming our understanding of in situ RNA biology. We are grateful for the opportunity to publish this review in @MolecularCell. We hope this will be a useful resource for the community. @HailingShi @nemo08061 @WangXiaoLab
