The laboratory is investigating the role of ubiquitin system in cancer pathogenesis and response to treatment with ionising radiation.
X is not twitter. I am in the process of moving all my activity to Bluesky. Lab updates will be posted on Bluesky from 2025. Thanks for following and good luck to everybody on X
With this new funding, we’re hiring PhDs and #postdocjobs Our #ERCAdG studies on the role of #RQC #ribosome #ubiquitin in #neurodegeneration will include using iPSCs, i-neurons, mammalian TC. The lab also has ongoing projects on #mitochondria and bacterial RQC.
Thrilled and honored to receive the #ERCAdG! This will fund us for the next 5 yrs for groundbreaking research My project SuTra focuses on the Surveillance of Translation, from sensing #ribosome stalling to #RQC. We aim to learn how defective surveillance causes neurodegeneration
🚨 New from @Gilbertson_Lab @CRUK_CI in @Cancer_Cell A graph-embedding pipeline reveals how gene co-expression changes during treatment, enabling the design of powerful combination therapies for brain & breast cancers. 📄Read more: cell.com/cancer-cell/fu… #CancerResearch #RECODR
We’re #hiring, please share! A fully funded #postdoc position is available in my lab to work on DNA damage response mechanisms. Please get in touch with your CV if you are interested, closing date: 27th June 2025. More details here: candidate.hr-manager.net/ApplicationIni…
Excited to share our discovery of ACBI4: VHL PROTAC degrader of KRAS(on) mutant e.g. G12R. High ternary-complex cooperativity to the rescue! VHL Identification of a Highly Cooperative PROTAC Degrader Targeting GTP-loaded KRAS(on) Alleles | ChemRxiv - go.shr.lc/4efUF2s
Excited to share our publication out in Science today! We define a role for the CST complex in DSB repair pathway choice. This study was conducted in close collaboration with Patrick Sung’s lab. Congratulations to Michelle Swift and all other authors! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Congratulations to everyone involved including @EimearLagan, @Dr_RPhillips, @adrianbracken, Gerry Brien and others at @tcdgenmicro, @EdinUni_IGC & @UPenn! Read our web story here: edin.ac/4jeAkLw
Excited to share our new paper out today in @MolecularCell! We show that the H3K27M oncohistone rewires cPRC1, creating a unique dependency on CBX4/PCGF4-containing complexes, and also reveal a previously unknown function of CBX4. Highlights below (1/11).
Our PCA-N method with neutralization step enables direct enzymatic digestion, doubles proteome depth from 5µL neat plasma, and scales to 10K+ sample preps/day. Democratizing plasma proteomics with validation across 50K measurements. On @biorxivpreprint! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Thanks for enriching it, Dan ;-)
Amazing meeting last week in Germany: 130th International Titisee Conferences on Stress Signalling in Development and Disease organized by Brenda Schulman & @RapeLab !
We are excited to report work from PCGI Director @RogerRogergr together with Elton Zeqiraj and Joe Salvino on the discovery of BIRSC deubiquitinating enzyme inhibitors for inflammatory indications rdcu.be/edRwF.
Please see our discovery of first-in-class BRISC deubiquitylating enzyme inhibitors rdcu.be/edRwF. A great journey with Elton Zeqiraj, Francesca Chandler, Joe Salvino. High-throughput screens, cryo-EM structure and ontarget activity to reduce inflammatory signals.
Thank you to Christina Woo of @Harvard for presenting such a data-packed, standing-room only seminar in Molecular Therapeutics @MTI_Berkeley @UCBerkeley this week! Awesome work!!!
Excited to share our latest work with the Fraaije (Groningen U) & Ram (Leiden U) groups on sorbicillinoid natural products in ACS Chem Bio! CRISPR-powered expression in A. niger boosts protein yields, and crystal structures reveal key catalytic mechanisms. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
Our paper on bacterial clippases is now out in @MolecularCell. These really interesting enzymes can make deconjugation of #ubiquitin irreversible. Thanks to @UniCologne and @C2fBiochemistry for support. cell.com/molecular-cell…

Seeing is believing! Our sequel now shows precisely how midnolin delivers substrates directly to the proteasome by repurposing established proteasomal subunits, a process critical to suppress multiple myeloma via IRF4 degradation. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
New from the @brian_b_liau Lab, two papers in @Nature that reveal a chemical-genetic convergence #chemtwitter #CancerResearch
Today in @Nature we share our back-to-back stories with @nzhenguw revealing chemical-genetic convergence between a molecular glue & E3 ligase cancer mutations. 1/6
