Because the newer generation of tokusatsu fans only like the martial arts and the toy gadgetry of post-Heisei Toei shows because Power Rangers. Ultraman is too “cerebral” for them. It’s like Superman with Gerry Anderson influences and giant monsters!

ヘドラを初めて見たのは『冒険王』の巻頭カラーだったと思う。これが新怪獣か。なんだかつまらない東宝らしくない怪獣だなって印象。『帰ってきたウルトラマン』の第１話を観てザザーンを好きになるか？それに近い手抜き感を僕は感じたのだ。でもその切り抜きをしばらく下敷きに挟んでいたりして。
