Yes, but when Matthew 12:46 introduces his mother and his brethren, you now know that they are younger brethren, because of Matthew 1:25.
Jesus being Mary’s “firstborn” doesn’t mean there were other children. The first male child of a marriage was termed the “firstborn” even if he was the only child. In Num 3:40 the designation was applied when the boy was only one month old—with obviously no second child in sight.

MrC’s argument fails because in Paul’s usage here the word “brother” is being combined with a common name to identify a specific person. While Paul could/did use “brethren” more broadly, this context demands a narrow sense. The modifier, “the Lord’s brother,” only makes…
Our Holy Land tour guide was a man born & raised in Nazareth, who lived in Nazareth & ran his business from Nazareth. He said, “Anyone who claims the word ‘brother’ in this part of the world has EVER been restricted to “blood brother” is an idiot. I personally have 500 brothers.”
I don’t deny that active members today are nearly all well behaved folk. The big problem is that they seem to be seeking salvation through obedience. Compare Romans 9:32 and Hebrews 7:19. The assumption behind the challenge is that the false gospel will look like lawlessness.…
My problem with people making these claims is that all they know about the church is the God Makers and South Park. They don't know what we believe and don't know what gospel we preach. If we are the church of the devil then how is it producing better fruits than any other…
The problem with this analogy is that on Roman Catholicism, the magisterium says what the Bible is and what it means, and the magisterium says what tradition to follow and what tradition to reject, so one leg of the stool is longer than the others. And that longer leg, on which…

“And we know that we are children of heavenly parents, So we know we have a heavenly mother or mothers.” Dallin H Oaks
That’s not our argument. Our argument is that it’s a verb that expresses a result. It’s like the verb “arrive” or “lift.” So, the resultant movement is part of the meaning of the word.

Speaking of Thomas, he's the one who wrote: "sola canonica scriptura est regula fidei" (only canonical scripture is the rule of faith) turretinfan.blogspot.com/2009/12/aquina…
As my friend @WalmartThomist points out, the idea that "Protestants accept other rules of faith but the only infallible rule of faith is Scripture" is a novelty in how "rule of faith" is being used. The original sources say Scripture is the only rule of faith. Very interesting.
Not any of those images is of the actual Theotokos. Let me be clear: I don’t endorse the meme. Nor do I endorse religious veneration of even the most exalted creature. It’s sinful to venerate the actual Theotokos, and Wisdom 13 explains the follow of venerating images more…
You don't hate Mary?
Are believers a fraction of all sorts of humanity? I assume and hope your answer is "yes." If so, then I appreciate you saying we agree.
Thanks for making my point for me @TurretinFan 👍☺️ Rev 12:9 clearly isn’t referring to “a small fraction of all sorts.” It’s referring to the world of unbelievers as in opposition to those believers who are no longer of this world. I’m glad we can agree on this point! 👍 😁
This is how the Apostles found the pagan world when they arrived to evangelize. #ftfy
This is exactly how the Apostles evangelized the pagan world.
Ambrose (c. 339-97): Divine Scripture confers salvation on us and is fragrant with the perfume of life, so that he who reads may acquire sweetness and not rush into danger to his own destruction. FC, Vol. 42, Saint Ambrose: Hexameron, Book 1, 2nd Homily, Chap. 8.30 (New York:…
This is a claim distinctly not found in Scripture. So, if it true, it refutes itself.
Proverbs 30:6 (KJV) Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
I bet they'd call us Christians if we just renamed this "The Nauvoo Creed" or some 💩
Revelation 12:9 (KJV) And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
If someone claims “the whole world” or “all people” in the Bible really means just a smaller fraction of all kinds, they’re twisting scripture to fit their doctrine.

We don't believe Cain is Bigfoot. We don't believe our underwear is magic. We don't believe God lives on a planet called Kolob. We don't believe black people are cursed. Our critics are all liars. Or they're just dumb. Probably both.
