How can we understand animals’ internal emotional states when we cannot simply ask them how they feel? We tackled this questions in the context of social behaviors in mice. Check out our latest paper! nature.com/articles/s4158…
I'm very excited to share this preprint by @neuronair: we show that hypothalamic neurons form an approximate line attractor whose ramping activity correlates with escalation of aggressive behavior in mice. 1/7 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Live at @CellCellPress: our paper w/David Anderson finding a leaky line attractor in hypothalamus encoding aggressive motivation! authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S00… Analysis by @neuronair, data by @TomomiKarigo & Bin Yang, further guidance @scott_linderman, @SuryaGanguli & Mark Schnitzer.
So excited to share my 1st first author paper with David Anderson & @Antihebbiann, with help from @TomomiKarigo, @scott_linderman, @SuryaGanguli & Mark Schnitzer in @CellCellPress!! We found an approx. line attractor that correlates with aggressiveness! cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

Amazingly bright and photostable GFP! The way how it was identified is also interesting (Suppl Fig1). Kids have been observing this bright fluorescence without knowing the gold was right there!
A highly photostable and bright green fluorescent protein go.nature.com/38lxcia
IT'S ALIVE! My first work from David Anderson's lab and @Antihebbiann's lab with @scott_linderman & @TomomiKarigo! Curious why activating small subcortical nuclei cause aggression? We found a line attractor in the hypothalamus that encodes an aggressive internal state!🐭🔥🧵
Congratulations Takako and the authors!!🎉🥛✨
Cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying visceral water sensing is out today in @Nature. If you've wondered why drinking water satiates thirst this story led by twitterless Takako Ichiki and @ttwang0908 provides the answer: nature.com/articles/s4158…
Just in time! My interview with @KentaM_Hagihara and @tak_miyawaki at podcast @NeuroRadio_!🧠📻 Thank you for giving me an opportunity to share my experience and thoughts during postdoc & job hunting🤍 (Contents are in Japanese)

I started 2022 paddling on the ocean and watching the first sunrise of the year. So beautiful and calm. What a great way to start a new year! And my adventure continues this year!➡️
I am excited to share a new study led by Shachar Givon & @MatanSamina w/ Ohad Ben Shahar: Goldfish can learn to navigate a small robotic vehicle on land. We trained goldfish to drive a wheeled platform that reacts to the fish’s movement (authors.elsevier.com/a/1eEnubrwfBCwg).
Beautiful work! Congratulations🎉🎉🎉
My first work is out on Neuron today! [To love or to hate, that is the question.] If you are wondering why mothers change their social behaviors, check out here! 👇 authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S08… The best way to start a new year!
