Sickening extremist language by the ever arrogant, and ignorant ex Hackney councillor, Jon Burke.
More plans to increase segregation in what is already one of the most traffic segregated boroughs in London. Hackney has published plans for its Dalston LTN. Will ease traffic on some roads at the expense of others. consultation.hackney.gov.uk/streetscene/da…
A cynical ‘win’. The ‘boundary’ roads outside the LTNs, which are often 800% less safe than side roads see no reduction in injuries. Who cares about their residents? theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…
The Deputy Leader of Lambeth Council has been accused of lying to the High Court in the recent case over the West Dulwich LTN Rezina Chowdhury is now facing calls to resign
These guys’ ignorant, insular, and selfish views are becoming more evident by the day.
You can either support traffic reduction and road safety on all roads, or you can support LTNs. You do the latter.
They waited 5 years before admitting their LTNs increase traffic, pollution and congestion on our community roads. Five years of breathing toxic air for thousands of children who live, travel, learn & play on LTN sacrificial roads = stunted lung growth = irreparable lung damage.
Hackney Council is finally starting to publicly acknowledge its LTNs are badly affecting roads outside them. Sadly the 5 year Transport Strategy has virtually no plans to reduce traffic on these sacrificial roads. Does this Cllr’s pamflet 👇hold any credibility or promise?
Who gets to decide what was “intended” for our streets hundreds of years ago? And why would that “intention” - revealed to LTN supporters, as if in an apparition - overrule 2025 principles like environmental equity and fairness or the 2025 knowledge of air pollution harms?
Improving lives for people inside an LTN is only part of the story. It’s the part of the story LTN advocates obsessively fixate upon, while purposefully ignoring the very obvious consequences. LTN afford privilege & benefit to some at the cost of others. It’s regressive policy.
Even though I don’t disagree with some things they say, it appears that Bob and other LTN extremists are not interested in sensible discussion. Instead they resort to Jon Burke-like derogatoriness, and patronising replies to try and shut us up.

Richmond Road was a main route. It should never have been considered for closure as part of LTN or otherwise. Also, there’s no such thing as “main road traffic”.
Weren’t you part of the cycle lobby some years ago, insisting the bus lane on Balls Pond Road, which your pictures show, become a (dreadfully designed) two way cycle lane? Reeks of double standards.
Yes, and worse still LTNs make these residential main roads rather unpleasant and unhealthy for its residents.
70% of Hackney’s roads is closed to motor traffic by LTNs. As a result, even during the summer holiday residential Graham Rd (A1207) is congested most of the day, every day. @mayorofhackney & @hackneycouncil ignore its residents. We don’t matter to them 😢 👇23/8/24 at 12pm
Cynical, and sickening hypocrisy from con-artist Mete Coban, who helped turning Hackney’s residential main roads into a noisy, smelly, polluting hell.
Graham Rd, unprecedentedly congested by LTNs. Virtually all day, every day, now made worse by Dalston Ln partly closed. @hackneycouncil please open LDN fieldsLTN or at least ex major route Richmond Rd, like you will for hackney marathon. Today @ 2pm.👇 Our health’s at stake

This is what gentrification in Hackney looks like. 🤦♂️
Renovation work is in progress at 178 Stoke Newington Road, which is reopening as The Sin Gusano Project. Its mission statement is: “Promoting the diversity and significance of handmade, single-batch agave spirits.” singusano.com/story
Pathetic, and rude response from “Evan” yet again. For those interested in genuine arguments and a civil discussion, here are some more facts and figures. Despite a fall in overall traffic for decades in H’ney, rds like Graham Rd see significant increase. Note Sept 2020!
You appear misinformed. Traffic has been coming down in many London boroughs over the last decades. The COVID LTNs have caused the unprecedented traffic levels and congestion on our local roads.
