This #PhD candidate is based in the US. I would really like to get #Australian #PhD candidates opinions regarding the #RTP stipend and whether they need to rely on additional jobs and/or family support?? 🧐 #phdchat #AcademicChatter
I am devastated, but I have to leave my PhD program. My family and I are simply too poor to continue on an embarrassing stipend with no benefits. The space on credit cards has run out, so the method we’ve been using to survive so far has run its course. 1/5
Happiness is when your PhD supervisor still texts you to tell you that they are proud of you. It has been 8 years since I finished my PhD but she continues to be my mentor and source of positivity to date. Academia needs such people, let's be those people🤗
#PhDone My sincerest thanks to my advisors, especially @Jones_MJK , for supporting me throughout this journey. Now, on to the future!

TRI proudly collaborates with @QLDEducation to deliver the SPARQ-ed program, bridging high-school science and real-world biomedical research. Students apply independently, nurturing their passion for science. We hope these SPARQs become future leaders in medical research. #STEM

My PhD thesis viva voce is approaching and I'm looking for words of advice and encouragement. My Mum told me, "Don't forget to breathe!" which I think is pretty good advice.
#AcademicTwitter What reveiwer 2 thinks you should be doing! @PhDVoice #phdchat
I’m very happy to announce that today I started working as a Cell Culture Technician with an amazing company 🥰
I relate to this. My Mum left school at 12 to work, married at 19, first kid at 20. My Dad left school at 14 and fixed car bodies (extremely well) for nearly 50 years. They both worked so hard and I’m glad I can take care of them now.
As a first-gen student, I've always known that other students with legacies in academia or family histories of college education have inherent advantages over me, but I don't think I've ever been able to see and understand that as clearly as today.
Do you remember when you joined Twitter? I do! #MyTwitterAnniversary

Things no one tells you about graduating from grad school (a thread):
Celebrating thesis submission with my partner and my best friend of 26 years 🥰
An important thread on stress-induced health issues during PhD.
Things people should talk more about in graduate school; Health. While in graduate school, you might develop stress induce health-related issues. I never thought I would develop eczema IBS and get my asthma back. (1/x)
An important thread. Now I know to prepare myself for this.
Is...post-PhD blues a thing? My dissertation is defended and uploaded and I just feel so strangely empty and like something is wrong/missing!!!
