Excited to share this piece I wrote for @insidehighered about writing instruction and AI, based on work we've been doing here at @HCWEMiami with faculty across disciplines (and on learning and writing theory!) insidehighered.com/opinion/views/…
I just want to say how the grad students here at #NWSA2024 are absolutely ROCKING it!! So excited to learn from these scholars. Keep on slaying ✌️
please, her energy is everything 😅✨

One of the fun things I've learned in my couple years post-PhD is that you still get those nervous jitters waiting to hear back about an article submission, and also the same joy when you hear some good news. I think it's sweet, this sort of timeliness experience!
I feel like with AI webinars, it's either going to be really good or really bad. There's seldom anything in-between.
I give a lot of presentations about writing, both at conferences and on my campus, but there's clearly something special about presenting about fanfiction writing that really makes me feel alive 🥰 it was so great to present at qt con about fandom culture as queer resistance!

I just want to say that Miami students are so dang smart. I'm attending the QT (Queer-Trans) Con and have heard such polished, riveting presentations from students, from topics like HIV stigma to the future of lesbianism to queer music icons. I love learning from them!
4Cs was fantastic! Great colleagues, thoughtful discussions, and so many ideas forming. And now I am back in Oxford, Ohio, preparing for around 70,000 people to arrive since we are on the path of totality for the eclipse 🌕
Finally back at #4C24 after a long absence due to covid times (and being at WRAB last year!), and one of the pure joys thus far has been reuniting with my former graduate colleagues and seeing us all out there doing the work ✨👊

No more detectors. Stop using them and stop making the snap decision to report a student for “violating” academic integrity.
Turnitin's AI detection flagged Grammarly, causing the student to receive a zero and a year of academic probation. Turnitin's AI detector, which does not provide any hard evidence, has yet to be tested in court. Link: fox5atlanta.com/news/grammarly…
Good morning; I am currently experiencing the kind of writing inspiration I haven't felt since my grad school days and it's: amazing! ✨ 📝 Gotta keep it up while I've got it. Happy writing and researching to all!

Grieving the loss of my grandmother, my "Babci," my best friend. Warrior of prayers, good luck notes, pierogi, and special prayers to find your keys or fix your phone. A true icon. The weather was grim as I drove back to Michigan, because the world is now a little less bright.

It's really disheartening to be at a conference and hear a presentation where the speakers are saying that the best AI programs can be "better" than faculty. No. We need real people to work with real students on real skills, because the focus is the process, not only the product
i haven't tweeted in forever, but thought i'd drop in to say life is good, i'm visiting home for the break, and my grandmother asked me tonight which of my parents i wanted to be buried next to and if i wanted her to give me on the family plots... 😅 happy holidays, y'all
Now @MandyRhae is discussing the barriers and opportunities in graduate learning. Great case example of how the comp exam was nixed in exchange for term long lit review.
