We are absolutely thrilled to introduce a modular #organoid-based in vivo platform to study brain environment-dependent and disease-associated human #microglia phenotypes. Just published in @CellCellPress @CellPressNews @TU_Muenchen @salkinstitute
Still in 2023, in a study led @SimonTSchafer from the Gage lab, a human brain-organiod-transplant-into-mice system was used to monitor human microglia in vivo. The beautiful system was used to model microglial dynamics in ASD: sciencedirect.com/science/articl….🤩#20YearsInVivoMGImaging
Introducing the 2025 SY-Stem Speakers! This year’s symposium again features excellent speakers, and is headlined by two fantastic Keynote Speakers: Fiona Doetsch from the University of Basel and Mitinori Saitou of the ASHBi Institute of the Kyoto University.
Scientists have identified the characteristics of #macrophages in the #DuraMater, revealing their distinct markers and behaviors during homeostasis and autoimmune neuroinflammation in mice. Read more in @SciImmunology: scim.ag/4jf89xx
Publication alert 🚨 Happy to share our work on engineered suppressor cells for localized immunosuppression, e.g. for T1D, out in Science: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Fantastic collaboration with the teams of Wendell Lim and Audrey Parent at UCSF @CDI_UCSF @AParent_lab @AtUcsf
Congrats @GjorJulijana & @lab_jacob !!
Congrats to five of our researchers, including Simon Jacob and Julijana Gjorgijeva, who receive prestigious ERC Consolidator Grants by @ERC_Research. Also, Alin Albu-Schäffer is awarded a Proof of Concept Grant: go.tum.de/573222 👏 #ERCCoG #ERCGrants 📷A.Eckert
The Brain Prize 2024 was awarded to Larry Abbott, Terry Sejnowski and Haim Sompolinsky for their foundational work in theoretical and computational neuroscience. In recognition of their contributions to the field, The Brain Prize has organised a seminar series: Neural Circuits of…
The 2024 Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell Prize has been awarded to neuroscientist Rusty Gage, PhD. To attend a livestream of the 2024 award ceremony, pre-register for the webinar on Zoom here: hubs.li/Q02Vjjyz0 Supported by @GladstoneInst and Cell Press (Cell Stem Cell)
Very excited about the first preprint from our lab @TU_Muenchen! This is a fun gene & cell therapy collaboration led by @SchmidtsAndrea's Lab. We use generative #AI to design new #CARTcell therapies. Check out Andrea's thread & thanks to the whole team! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Cancer escapes immunotherapies by mutating its surface. This means even groundbreaking #CARTCell therapies fail too often because of cancer resistance. But what if we could use #GenerativeAI to design CAR-T with de novo binders faster and smarter, targeting even resistant tumors?…
Fantastic work by two #BrilliantMinds . Congrats @SchmidtsAndrea and @grunewaju !!

We are excited to announce the 2025 SY-Stem Symposium! From March 12-14, we will explore the latest advances in Stem Cell Biology. Share the news and register online: sy-stem.org #events #biology #europe #research
Proud to see our image selected for the November @CellStemCell cover, spotlighting two papers from my lab and @Pluchinolab that showcase the power of patient stem cell-derived models to study multiple sclerosis. (1/2)
Extremely nice #preview of our own work, as well as of the other MS-in-a-dish paper from @fossati_v by Jerome Mertens and team
Congratulations to Fred "Rusty" Gage, PhD, of the @salkinstitute, on being named the 2024 Taylor Prize laureate. Gage’s groundbreaking research has shown that the human brain generates new neurons throughout life. Read more about the 2024 laureate. schulich.uwo.ca/about/news/202…
Congratulations to @IreneSantisteb5 from the lab for being one of the #ISSCR2024 Merit Award winners. Well deserved!

📢 Our latest paper is out in @CellCellPress! Led by the multi-talented @XinheZheng, we accelerated AAV-based gene delivery to 2 days & enabled in vivo CRISPR screens with single cell-level readout, a leap from existing capabilities 🤯 How does it work? (1/8)
Job alert! A post-doc position for RNA-dependent epigenetic regulation will be available at the Toda lab from 2025 supported by @ERC_Research. Plz RT and DM if u are interested in. Expertise in epigenomic analyses is essential.
Salk Professor Rusty Gage with Lei Zhang, Meiyan Wang, and team have created a new organoid model of the human brain to study inflammation 🧠 The new model includes #astrocytes and will help scientists understand diseases like #Alzheimer's @NatureBiotech salk.edu/news-release/m…
Finally out in @Nature: B cells orchestrate tolerance to the neuromyelitis optica autoantigen AQP4 🥳 Thank you to all fantastic collaborators for your tremendous contribution and the fruitful exchange🍍 disq.us/t/4mw5h1p
