Associate Professor @ScrippsResearch. Building neurotech to study how genes and physiology impact brain function 🧬 🧠
📢 Our latest paper is out in @CellCellPress! Led by the multi-talented @XinheZheng, we accelerated AAV-based gene delivery to 2 days & enabled in vivo CRISPR screens with single cell-level readout, a leap from existing capabilities 🤯 How does it work? (1/8)

Our preprint describing the Range Extender element, which is required and sufficient for long-range enhancer activation at the Shh locus, is out in @Nature. nature.com/articles/s4158…
How do enhancers work over distances that sometimes exceed megabases? Excited to share our work led by @gracecbower where we uncover a unique sequence signature globally associated with long-range enhancer-promoter interactions in developing limb buds: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/
🧵 It's raining outside, perfect for some vibe coding... ☔ So I built something cool with @AnthropicAI's Claude Desktop! Introducing Claude Text Editor - edit ANY text, ANYWHERE on macOS with Claude's help. No more copy-paste gymnastics! 🚀
Science and innovation drive every breakthrough. On 7/21, honor Apollo 11’s legacy and tell Congress NO to research‑funding cuts. Speak up ➡️ ProtectScienceAndInnovation.org #ProtectScience #InnovationMakesAmericaGreat

Two worlds collide: TFW your brilliant (and apparently famous) lab intern’s face (Josh Park) pops up as a meme in a Meta recruiting-flex thread
my first thought:
Excited to share the first 2(!) preprints from the Kebschull Lab. The amazing @HyopilKim developed MAPseq2 & POINTseq and used them to map the dopaminergic cells of VTA and SNc. tl;dr MAPseq2=10x cheaper, 4x better; POINTseq=easy cell type specific barcoding; DA neurons=very cool
The call just opened! ki.se/en/about-ki/jo… You can apply to several departments simultaneously, check out which depts better fit your profile! Here is the call for our Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics ki.varbi.com/what:job/jobID…

So excited to share this paper led by @ShivaniBaisi_MD! Check out iHOTT!!
🧵Excited to share our new preprint introducing iHOTT - an autologous tumor-immune co-culture model that captures patient-specific responses in #Glioblastoma 💥Now on @biorxivpreprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 📝From @BhaduriLab in collaboration with @UCLANsgy
Honored to be an HHMI FHS! Grateful to colleagues who push me to think deeply, and students whose curiosity & energy make the lab a joy. My grad advisor said in genetic screens, you don’t get what you want—you get what you deserve. Hope we are deserving! hhmi.org/programs/freem…
Congratulations to the new Hrabowski scholars, including my department colleague @xinjin! hhmi.org/programs/freem…
Love seeing colleagues and friends #slay! Congrats to @moriel_z @UUtah for being becoming an @HHMINEWS Hrabowski scholar!! See many familiar faces in the list too..@tinakim_neuro @xinjin hhmi.org/programs/freem…
Thank you to Xin Jin, PhD (@xinjin) and Justus Kebschull, PhD (@JustusKebschull) for presenting their research at the recent Klingenstein Fellowship Awards in Neuroscience Conference. 📷 : @SimonProPhoto1
When we came to see our destroyed labs hit by an Iranian missile, we found that a piano had survived @WeizmannScience
Postdoc positions available in my lab @karolinskainst - exciting science and fantastic environment. I take mentoring seriously - 7/7 postdocs that left my lab has faculty positions today. Existing datasets and funds to build new ones available. shorturl.at/sj2YE
I wrote an Op-Ed about the government's attacks on Harvard. Please share with anybody who thinks these attacks help anybody. prosyn.org/PhWi74r?h=KyJ1…
Remember to adjust for multiple comparisons when searching for memory-encoding neuronal regulation! nature.com/articles/s4158…
Congratulations to our Human Neural Circuitry team; bit.ly/4dEyX7Z publishes today in Science! This was the hardest challenge of my career, but one of the most rewarding, after years of rebuilding– & for myself, expanding my inpatient neuropsychiatry work to the service…
The current attack of the US government is devastating. The internationals in my lab are asking can I come to work today ? I told them NO because I’m afraid government officials will come to arrest them - those are LEGAL international scientists that just lost their visas due to…
Our work is now online in the new Neuron issue @NeuroCellPress, alongside other labs from the BRAIN Armamentarium Consortium! We have developed enhancer-AAVs to target diverse cortical interneuron subtypes: cell.com/neuron/fulltex…
Someone who is so easily swayed by hype and slogans as to think defunding basic research is fighting antisemitism is not someone I would trust to tell hype from real product in their analyses of biotech
Elite universities were WARNED MULTIPLE TIMES to start protecting their Jewish students or face budget cuts. They chose to ignore the warnings What did ya’ll think when they said “Never Again?” Vibes? essays? How about speaking out against the racism at MIT / Harvard, @baym?
