I need help understanding optimization in games. I can tell I don’t understand first principles. Is it better to have more materials or less? How can I optimize draw calls and memory usage? Is it better to have many uv seems or less?

Tried 3d modeling for the first time when I was in high school. Made a few chairs in 3dsmax following random tutorials, then got bored and haven't touched 3d for 5+ years. Who would've thought that eventually it will become my job 😄
