Canada Disability Benefit: the eugenics-driven bait & switch 🧵

It's eugenics to advocate for the extermination of people at the genetic level
i actually am disabled like that and if i couldve been born not disabled i wouldve taken that opportunity in a heartbeat. its ableist to force disabled people to just "be ok" with being disabled, when society refuses to accommodate disabled people
leftists when asked to consider disabled people: 😡🤬🖕🏻 leftists imagining a world without disabled people: 🥹☺️🥳👏🏻 leftists being told by disabled people that it’s fucked up they don’t want disabled people to exist and they do nothing to make the world better for us now: 😡🤬🖕🏻
So-called progressives cheer policies promoting the invisibilisation of disabled people (by institutionnalisation or by full-on eugenics). There is a reason why human rights law demands social inclusion in every sphere of life. And guess what? This means you *accept* disability.

a lot of disabilities are debilitating because we live in an ableist society that fails to accommodate the bare minimum. an argument like this is naive at best— do you think there’s an end goal to eugenics that isn’t just eradication of all disabled people?
A lot you think eugenics is exclusively when a nation state forcibly sterilizes people and since you wouldn’t support that you’re a good person. Meanwhile you also think some people shouldn’t have children or there’s such a thing as "great genes", which casually match whiteness.
people on this website are like i support the definition of eugenics because it would make my life easier and make me less sad about the disabled people in my life
Yeah this is the crux of the issue. They've not found a "cure", they've found a way for rich people to make sure they don't have a disabled child. Which will inevitably result in worse social care for the children still botj with Down syndrome
i think ppl don’t realize that if we give ppl the option to “remove” down syndrome from their baby, down syndrome doesn’t disappear - it just becomes something only ppl who can’t afford to remove it have. we see this already w rich ppl choosing ivf embryos based on desired traits
Digital media outlets would do stories that felt “low stakes” to bosses but were still culturally relevant or even just highly relevant to online communities. They took internet stories seriously and worked w freelancers. There are so many stories now that simply go untold
.@MarkJCarney continuing to cement our place as the lapdog of the American empire. Maybe now they'll lower the tariffs down from 50% to 49.9%!! Elbows up!!!
Oh, Canada... "Macron came up w a plan to have France, plus G7 allies Britain & Canada, recognize Palestinian statehood...Three diplomats said London did not want to face the wrath of the US, & Ottawa took a similar stance, leaving Macron to go it alone." timesofisrael.com/frustration-do…
I also have fibromyalgia, I understand the pain, but please believe if they put anywhere near the level of scientific edification towards solving chronic pain as they have towards eradicating disabled people from the gene pool we’d be having an entirely Other conversation
The fibromyalgia is not bad because it innately impedes me from doing things, it's bad because it HURTS. It is the HURTS that impedes me from doing things. It's easy to say you don't support preventing disabilities in utero or whatever when yours doesn't hurt you!
Remember that time he said he was willing to solve world hunger and then when the United Nations World Food Programme gave him the fiscal breakdown of how much it would cost ($6.6 billion which would feed 42 MILLION people for a year in 43 countries), he ignored them?
Elon Musk is now officially worth $405.6 billion, projected to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027.

Institutionalizing people doesn’t make them “better”. It doesn’t help them and it’s not compassionate. It simply disappears them. Hides them away so the general public don’t have to face disability and mental illness. People think it’s better because they don’t have to see it
I would love treatments or just some basic supports around the chronic illness which disables me. I do not want to eradicate entire groups of people. Happy to take correction. Not willing to debate.
therapy should be free and accessible because getting traumatized is free and accessible
MAID for disabled people so they won't grow/multiply. IVF for abled people so they will. Eugenics 😁
If you want to become a parent, my government will help make it more affordable. We’ll introduce a new IVF funding program to help cover costs for a standard treatment cycle.
If you're disabled and you're saying "gene editing is fine, actually" - please consider that no matter how much you try to cozy up to The System, The Systems will grind you into a paste and dispose of you like they do everyone else. They don't want you, me, or anyone like us.
it's true, because they never bring it up except in the context of supporting some new eugenic law or development. then the rest of the time it's "you people can't do anything 🙄"
People always talk about finding cures in terms of easing disabled people's misery, but what they really care about is easing the discomfort they feel around disabled people. (1/2)
