Safer Roads Yorkshire
@SaferRoadsYorks
Pedestrian, cyclist, driver and citizen journalist campaigning for better road safety. If it saves one life it will be worth it.
'You can't prove that close pass. Your camera needs to be calibrated/the wide angle lens distorts distances.' Yes, we can. The video shows the cyclist is 1m out from the kerb. Add 0.3m from the centrally mounted camera to the elbow of the cyclist to give 1.3m... 1/3
These triangular 'sharks teeth' warn drivers of an approaching crossing. HC167: DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users, e.g. on the approach to a crossing. This careless driver was reported to the police. #Keighley #Utley
If you want to see the extremely callous face of motonormativiy cycle with you child in a busy urban road.
Brilliant to join up with @AirRosendale on last Friday’s glorious #bikebus. Hundreds of children cycle to school in West Dulwich facing close passes and road danger every day. These children deserve their bike lane - @WestDulwichLab please don’t keep them waiting! #cycling
Horse riders are also fed up with careless drivers and now run cameras and report to the police just like cyclists and drivers do.

The sad reality for some drivers. If it was their child, parent or partner would they drive a two tonne vehicle so close to them?
The real answer is that some drivers dehumanise cyclists - even though they have never even met them They think they are - at best - an object on the road. Similar to a width restriction. And as long as there is no actual contact, then it is perceived to be perfectly safe driving
This careless Dacia driver close passes on a blind corner and almost crashes into an oncoming car. Reported to the police and given RT88575 Driving without due care and attention. They chose to do a £90 education course.
Driving standards around cyclists is improving.
Driver behaviour around cyclists is slowly improving. Great careful pass by this BMW driver. As vulnerable road users, we really appreciate this. Thank you!
You should not enter any hatched area bounded by a broken line unless it is safe to do so. Passing a cyclist who is overtaking parked cars is not such a time. Reported to the police. Let's hope the safer driving course included rule 130. #Steeton #AiredaleHospital
Common misunderstanding: cyclists don't take the centre lane to hold anyone up. It's simply to prevent unsafe manoeuvres. When it becomes safe, we move to secondary - 50cm + from the kerb.
So you agree riding primary deliberately to prevent a car passing because of some notion it is not safe to pass is also obstruction. Glad that's settled.
And where is the public outrage like that when a girl is (wrongly) sent home for wearing a Union Jack dress? Britain has lost it's way.
speeding uninsured driver kills a child crossing the road, gets 16 months(!) in prison and will be free to drive again within three years. there is simply no deterrent to doing whatever you want, killing whoever you want with a car bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Careless drivers acting out on their 'get out of my way' frustrations. It's been a long time coming but thank god police are bringing these people to justice.
It's bad enough that these drivers don't understand the rules well enough to know what they should do. It's even worse that they don't have the skill to deal with the situation they created. But why does their failure cause them to shout obscenities at those they threaten? 1/2
One of the reasons why enforcement is so important.
Only one group kills 5 people every day & seriously injures a further 70...
Van drivers: if lorry operators can overtake cyclists leaving at least 1.5m of space, surely you can too?
