Let’s be part of the solution

Cyclist. Runner. Swims?? Considerate to others. Trying to minimise impact on environment. Passionate about safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Air-breather
People going about their days on foot shouldn’t need the instincts of a hunted gazelle to survive. The onus is on drivers to not run them over.
The majority of pedestrians have absolutely no situational awareness anywhere, from leaving their homes to milling around shopping centres like extras in a zombie movie. Wearing earbuds cannot be helpful in keeping them safe.
There is absolutely zero justification for normal everyday family cars to be able to go over 80mph.
You're not going to like hearing that traffic crashes have, for decades, been one of the top killers of children.
The criminal justice system treats driving not as the licensed operation of dangerous machinery in public, but more like a human right that should only be removed in the most extreme of circumstances (and usually only *after* somebody has been killed or maimed).
"There are now no non-radical futures. The choice is between immediate and profound social change or waiting a little longer for chaotic and violent social change. In 2023 the window for this choice is rapidly closing." @KevinClimate bellacaledonia.org.uk/2023/04/18/no-… 2/
'He gratuitously killed my child' Alice Williams was killed by Qadeer Hussain who failed to stop at a red light as she was crossing with her mum and brother. Alice's parents have been highlighting the deadly consequences of drivers running red lights. trib.al/zquL1sB
🚨An #SPCasualtyReduction officer stopped the rider of this modified pushbike, after they were observed riding up a hill without pedaling! Roadside checks revealed the bike was capable of speeds up to 31.8mph, on throttle alone. These modifications class the bike as a motor…
The first and foremost problem, is in the West, the rich countries, only look for solutions and answers, that preserve the status quo, the system as it is, BaU. Which is just absurd, considering that is what is driving the crisis. 27/
Car Brain is when someone who respects others in nearly every context suddenly becomes selfish, reckless, or even hostile just because a car is part of the interaction. Car Brain is a kind of cultural psychosis. fastcompany.com/91330344/car-b… @FastCompany
Priority: both the oncoming cyclist (because their side of the path is clear) and the pedestrians (because they hold the higher place in the hierarchy of road users) have priority over the camera cyclist. The camera cyclist should give way to both of them. 4/11
You're talking rot. My energy consumption is v.low. If everyone came half way to towards my levels of e.use we'd have this problem licked. But it's not about what i will do, or others, it's about what YOU will do. YOU need to take responsibility for YOUR consumption. …
“And now I’m sending troops to deal with our biggest enemy.” “Russia, sir, China? “California.”
When you don't have the courage to call out the actual menace on public streets, you turn to something like e-bikes. 🤦♂️ This is so dumb.
If a gun manufacturer sold sawn off shotguns they would be committing a crime - selling what are racing cars for use on public roads should also be a crime.
“Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you’re the one filming it.” – unknown
2/2 It's not my responsibility to stop other people committing terrible crimes. Same goes here. If I change my behaviour for them, I'm already a victim of their crimes. You can identify risks, but you don't get to tell me what I should do to mitigate someone else's choices.
“You’re very rude to me, aren’t you?” “I am very rude to you because of what you’ve done to my country.” James O’Brien is less than impressed with Brexit voter Richard.
Victim blaming bullshit. He was riding at least at the speed of traffic. He didn't ask for a cycle lane, and cycle lanes are a cyclist facility, just one option. Pretending cyclists are a homogeneous group is illogical nonsense.
Not often that I’m shocked. But today I discovered mini-cab vehicles don’t require child seats for toddlers. Help me understand how - unlike in the same model of car - a toddler won’t be propelled through the windscreen during a crash, or why that still does not matter in 2025
