If you want to see the extremely callous face of motonormativiy cycle with you child in a busy urban road.
Brilliant to join up with @AirRosendale on last Friday’s glorious #bikebus. Hundreds of children cycle to school in West Dulwich facing close passes and road danger every day. These children deserve their bike lane - @WestDulwichLab please don’t keep them waiting! #cycling
No doubt lots of drivers are going to whine about this. Close-passing isn't a specific offence; it's careless or inconsiderate driving under the Road Traffic Act 1988. Overtaking into oncoming traffic is the same offence. A person on a bicycle is traffic.
This is still a close-pass. Even when the vehicle the driver is passing is oncoming. And a failure to give way to oncoming vehicles before overtaking parked cars. Shouting and gesticulating at the cyclist doesn't change that. Hopefully the police action will help them understand.

Would be nice to see a little more investment in biodiversity in Sutton Park . . bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Great to visit @forestbike_uk and see their e-bike operation this morning. Good discussions about the growth of cycling in London, the importance of maintenance for safety, parking and regulations.
Cannot stress enough how impressive it is that, in the current economic climate, Mostly Jazz, Funk and Soul Festival continually gets better and better. Every community in Brum should have something similar through summer. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
And in all the time you've been thinking about that, have you noticed there have been no deaths at floating stops? (which we've had in London for over 10 years) Meanwhile there have been so many crashes involving motor vehicles at bus stops and more than a dozen deaths.
This is what we need to do in Birmingham. We could transform travel, road harm and pollution and make our city a much better place to live.
In 2023, Amsterdam introduced a 30 km/h limit. Many arterials were lowered from 50 km/h, 4,500 signs installed, 140 lights reconfigured, and 200 km of markings adjusted. Aiming to improve safety, liveability, and accessibility, 80% of the road network is now at this key speed.🧵
