Obviously it’s only a small handful of by-elections but the fact Reform are failing to hold by elections in seats they won just weeks earlier, points to a potential weakness in maintaining momentum. With up to 4 years to go till the GE that risks being a problem for them.

If Labour think you’re old enough to vote at 16 do they also think you’re old enough to stand for election at 16? If not, why not? If yes, and the 16 year old becomes an MP, how will they fit in their studies? Remember they can’t leave education until they’re 18.

A good move from Kemi, and one that I’m confident will be welcomed by the membership. A brilliant job by @JulianEllacott and the rest of National Convention team- who spent time listening to associations and members to find out what we want the selection process to look like 💙

Will the government be lowering The age at which you can become an MP to 16? Because if they think you have the capacity to be informed enough to vote for one, then in theory you have the capacity to be one…

Obviously the Tories should oppose votes at 16, and pledge to reverse if in office - learn from the mistakes of the Cameron era and do not accept this government's constitutional reforms as the new status quo... ...and then end the Youth Parliament, for good measure.
