Pay attention to every statement you see today from anti-tobacco groups in response to the FDA's JUUL authorization, because they all mean the same thing: People who can't quit smoking using traditional cessation methods Do Not Matter.
“The availability of safer products should be made easier than cigarettes, so there should never be policies that make cigarettes more attractive than vaping. A smoke-free society is what we are striving for. Not a nicotine-free society.” @DrMtyndall blog.tellwell.ca/2025/07/18/aut…

"It’s time for a pragmatic revision of the Doggett Amendment-one that empowers U.S. agencies to share evidence, not industry marketing, and helps the world’s smokers access safer alternatives." nicotineinsider.com/2025/07/02/yac…
Right, because Froot Loops are super healthy without the food dyes.
Froot Loops is finally following its nose — toward common sense. Thanks to the many parents who spoke out and pressured @KelloggsUS to remove harmful food dyes from its products. I urge more companies to step up and join the movement to Make America Healthy Again.
@threadreaderapp unroll. It’s not common for a consultant to one “side” of a case to nevertheless present the case for both sides. Joe Gitchell is a role model, and a thoroughly decent human being.

This @RetractionWatch story is a must-read. The author - clearly not happy after her fourth retraction - told the RW reporter “Go back to your editors and say, ‘Dr. Hazan is not interested in being a punching bag.’”
Consistently inconsistent. @SabinehazanMD shouts about transparency, but won't share her data or her documentation when asked, with predictable results. retractionwatch.com/2025/07/22/mic…
"Prevent" Cancer @preventcancer is disappointed by the FDA's decision to authorize a low risk, non-combustible nicotine product that has been shown to effectively displace traditional cigarettes, which [checks notes] "Cause" Cancer.
I was raised in a Rock & Metal house, so much so that - apparently - the thing that would put me to sleep as a ratty baby was Dad putting Black Sabbath on. #RIPOzzy

New US Nielsen and MSAi data show US cigarette sales continue to decline faster than the historic rate, BUT the rate of decline has slowed. Barclays, the investment firm, reports: "A clampdown on illicit vapes is probably leading to improvement in cig volume declines." This means…
US teen use of ANY tobacco or nicotine product has dropped to a 50-year low, down 49% over just the past decade. So, now Tobacco Control is reduced to *pushing* draconian coercive taxes and bans to prevent something that maybe MIGHT (but hasn't) happened.
Governments tax cigarettes and alcohol endlessly because they think it will deter people from using these sinful, age-restricted products. Now Rhode Island is taxing nicotine pouches at 80%, which is like saying it's a sin to use nicotine in any form other than NRT. @gbentley1

Quitting smoking in Rhode Island just got more expensive, as the state budget passed includes an 80 percent tax increase on nicotine pouches. reason.org/commentary/nic…

Robin Williams would’ve turned 74 today This thread will brighten up your day 🧵 1. His improvised scene in Good Will Hunting made the cameraman laugh so hard the camera started shaking. Matt Damon's reaction is authentic.

Caffeine pouch panic When I was 16 I could buy caffeinated bottles of water from 711. I would go home and brew caffeinated coffee with caffeinated water.
Teen-friendly promotion of the product is spreading on social media. Adding to the concerns is a caffeine pouch startup from a former Juul executive. on.nbcboston.com/0w5jZ7B
The smoking rate in the EU is twice what it is in the UK and has barely fallen in the last decade. It nevertheless thinks it can create a “nicotine-free generation” by 2040 and is lying about the risks of safer nicotine products. What a clown show!
