π©Govt. admits concessions to Pt 3 of the Planning Bill are tokenistic and a 'tactical retreat' to speed the Bill up through the Lords. The amends don't help nature. Killing snails won't make mortgages any more affordable for homebuyers. Reeves presents a false dichotomy here
π©Government's proposed concessions to the Planning Bill don't protect irreplaceable habitats. The Bill *assumes* that replacement habitats are successfully delivered. Here, Barry Gardiner MP interrogates Matthew Pennycook on this:
According to govt +, depressingly, some big eNGOs, the way to protect and restore nature is to cram it into ever less space. But they also think humans can't survive without taking up even more room. Growthists have no cenception of enough + will always keep coming back for more.
amazing that compassion, concern for the environment is being polarized, seen as 'extreme' and 'radical' now! Lost the (garden) plot, the lot of them. Green space is vital for wellbeing, don't they get that????
Filler work for the Nepo flail contractor, gotta keep up the payments on that Β£200k tractor π
I care more about snails than the future of Rachel Reeves What an irresponsible and pathetic statement to make Shows @UKLabour are not serious about protecting nature/environment - the one thing that affects our whole future There are ways to provide homes AND protect nature
It's the sort of stuff you might hear at closing time in Wetherspoons. How has our politics sunk this low?
Dr James Canton is starting a renaturing revolution. @BBCLookEast explores how he wants everyone to have a go at creating thriving habitats for wildlife, no matter how big or small your garden - even just a window box will do. brnw.ch/21wUpMD
The Aarhus Convention is more necessary now than ever. It gives citizens access to environmental justice when authorities are prioritising short-term economic gain over long-term environmental sustainability. Another of @RobertJenrick's daft ideas to speed up planning. π‘
It just shows the calibre of our politicians. You literally can't live on a dead planet - and why would you want to? I care about our countryside, as do many other English people. It's the government that's out of touch @RachelReevesMP

Sick and tired of this performative gratuitous attack on nature. With 1.4 million plots already approved for new homes, many empty homes, there's no need to set up this false choice, straw man argument.
I mean honestly Speechless that Ministers talk like this (Also, with pylons, it isnβt just views) independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-nβ¦
Why do you flail hedgerows at King George V playing fields in July yearly ? just when all the fruits and seeds are forming to help sustain wildlife through the winter and birds will still be nesting ?@WelHatCouncil awful management @rspb @_JoelAshton
Now THEREβS some awful hedgerow management if ever I saw any! ππ‘ The bird nesting season βofficiallyβ runs until 31/08 each year, so unless youβve carried out a bird survey, I doubt this is good practice, & even then, youβve removed berries, as stated below @WelHatCouncil

Reeves should listen to Derailed: The Story of HS2 on BBC Sounds if she really wants to understand why HS2 has been a disaster. The answer is complex but generally down to government incompetence. Nothing to do with environmental protections!
Part of the reason the #PlanningBill faced such a hard time in Parliament is because of inaccurate & divisive bat-bashing by senior ministers. Government amendments improve the bill; this kind of rhetoric does not. Housing & nature need not be at odds. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-nβ¦
βI care more about a young family getting on the housing ladder than I do about protecting some snails β - @RachelReevesMP #CartoonArt #Satire #Housing #rachelreeves #SaveSnails
She is incredibly ignorant about housing and planning. She never talks about the 1.5 million unused dwellings - odd that!
god almighty what a stupid bloody thing for her to say! Cant we care about both? Where people live is positively influenced by the nature around it. Homesforeveryone.org show us how to care for both - why not listen and learn @RachelReevesMP ? stop parroting the party line
