Thoughts on the big one this Saturday at heavyweight, free for all on The Corner Stool. Link in bio

One thing I've noticed with the passing of Hulk Hogan is a generational divide. I'm not sure anyone under 40 understands how big a star he was from 1985-1988 and how recognizable he was to the general public. A household celebrity in a way very few athletes are today.
I think we can all agree that Hulk Hogan didn't "save wrestling." That's silly. Wrestling was thriving in 1983. So, who actually saved the sport? Gus Sonnenberg —because he convinced the promoters they could stop pretending these guys actually knew how to wrestle.
Inoue knocks him out out
Who wins at 122lbs? Naoya Inoue vs Guillermo Rigondeaux
My golden age, JSA and All Star Squadron loving ass is 🥰
You asked for it, you got it. Here’s the full mural honoring the History of Metahumans in the DCU adorning the Hall of Justice in #Superman.
If you trust someone named Bubba when they say “sure I’m happy to let other dudes have at my wife” you make your own bed.
I wonder how many people would want to be judged by the worst thing they ever said in private?
The last Top Rank event of its ESPN contract airs Saturday. After that there’ll be no regularly scheduled #boxing on linear TV in the U.S. for the 1st time essentially since the early 1940s when TV became widely accessible. Shame on the stewards of the sport who let it happen.
Restraint? The first big fight scene he loses his shit, destroys a local dairy, and detonates a 7-11 likely killing a bunch of people in the store and getting gas. youtu.be/fPyGnlct1o0?si… That’s what Miracleman does, not Superman. Looked hella cool though.
Zack Snyder didn’t make Superman relatable by weakening him. He made him human by showing his strength isn’t power, it’s restraint, love, and sacrifice. #ManOfSteel will always be art 🙌🏽
My final word on David Haye is that if he was in his prime and fought in the WBSS that Usyk won he wouldn’t have made the final.
This is by far the lowest I’ve seen the welterweight division in my lifetime.
This was championship-level matchmaking by Team Pacquiao. #Boxing #PacquiaoBarrios @premierboxing
Barrios letting Manny stay with him this far into the fight is comedy #PacquiaoBarrios
That cut in the first Fundora fight unraveled a career. Tough business.
Bam looked great again. Puma will be a fantastic fight
Congrats to Bam on defending the Ring 115-pound championship and unifying WBC and WBO belts vs. the very tough Cafu. Puma is up next. Undisputed awaits one of these young guns.
Usyk also in the conversation with guys like Pea, Pac, and Hagler for greatest southpaw ever. He’s the best at heavyweight so he literally already is but have fun with the P4P lists
Usyk moves to 9-0 against opponents ranked top 10 or champ in their class by @ringmagazine and @TBRBoard, 13-0 in title fights across two classes, and 4-0 in lineal title fights.
Usyk retains THE crown and shows how dumb sanctioning bodies are. Again.
Consider the size and quality of his cruiserweight era. That division would have been considered above the norm for the champs level all the way to the 60s with few exceptions. He’s shown he can beat the full range of classic heavyweight size.
Hard to argue against Usyk being an all-time great top 10 heavyweight after a performance like that.
Parker earned it. He should have next.
“Maybe Tyson Fury (is next). Maybe we have 3 of them? Then Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker. But I cannot say.” Usyk
