Saddened to hear of the passing of Dwight Qawi. The few times I was around him he was the type of guy who was a quiet but extremely proud man that would happily talk to anyone who approached him about his career. One of the absolute best LH’s during its deepest era. RIP Champ 🥊

I lost an old friend Don Elbaum today, as did the Sport of Boxing, which just became less interesting & fun. Don didn’t work in Boxing, he lived it. 🙏❤️🥊
Farewell to Dwight (Braxton) Muhammad Qawi, the former prisoner who used his stocky 5-foot-6 frame to become the sneering, relentless “Camden Buzzsaw”& become a 2x world champ - participating in two of the most notable fights the light heavy & cruiser divisions have ever seen.
One of #boxing's most colorful, illustrious characters, Don Elbaum, has left the building. A master storyteller and a self-admitted scoundrel, Donnie was a lovable relic of a time gone. He was an irreplaceable swiss army knife in our sport; he did everything. Don was my friend...
🙏 RIP Dwight Muhammad Qawi. The stunning savagery of the first Holyfield fight has him inextricably linked to cruiserweight, but this guy was MADE during a golden age at 175: Rossman, James Scott, Saad x 2, Eddie Davis. That's why he's in the IBHOF @ringmagazine #boxing 🇺🇸🥊🇺🇸
Just read about the passing of Dwight Muhammad Qawi. A staple of network TV in the 80's (who can forget his 15 round battle with Evander Holyfield?).He was a real fighter and a man who turned around his own life to help others. Rest in peace to 'the Camden Buzzsaw' #boxing
I always hear how ''fighters aren't afraid!!'' or they they aren't the ones ducking. But I've got it on good authority that guys are turning down career-high paydays to face IBF 154-titlist, Bakrham Murtalaziev. Again, they game the system, too, don't kid yourself #boxing
actually, he would've probably avoided him and hid behind his HBO contract

Emiliano Vargas can be an absolute star. No matter where Top Rank ends up, he will be one of their pillars.. #boxing
One thing I’ve learned reporting on boxing: the gym tells the story better than any interview. Early on, I made it a point to be there in person, taking in the sights, sounds, and moments that bring it all to life. I love what I do 🙏🏽
once they ceded quality control by giving promoters all of their dates -- that was a large part of the downfall. There used to be a time when networks bought fights, not just content from one provider. Where have you gone Mort Sharnik?
