A UK based creative campaign and community focussed on the Human Rights of Autistic people and people with Learning Disabilities.
We co-hosted a webinar with @DrOliverLewis @DoughtyStPublic last week about the impact of the proposed changes of the Mental Health Bill on autistic people and people with learning disabilities and how these might be mitigated. You can watch the video here:…
We need to talk about a children’s home company called Wilderness Way. It keeps pinging on my radar of failing homes, and when you follow the money, it is 💩. A 🧵
A follow up in this week's Sunday Times from @emilydugan Linda Sands, safeguarding expert questioning the 'complete lack of substantiating evidence'. Professor Andy Bilson & colleagues call for the withdrawal of this harmful guidance. Open letter here: bilson.org.uk/home/fii_open_…
Lost count now. How on earth is this hospital still open? "The Care Quality Commission has restricted referrals to St Andrew's Northampton site to ensure the safety of their current inpatients" bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
‘The lack of effective action in the face of this well-rehearsed knowledge, of knowing people will die as an outcome of certain and repeated conditions, constitutes social murder’ @AliveLeder is 9 months late.. #Socialmurder
The decades roll by, but you can always bank on St Andrews to deliver abusive care.

When professionals just don’t want to listen…
Tromans et al. offer a striking example of when professionals do not learn from lived experience... nor from the documented pain of 191 folks. Instead, their conclusions seem to rest on the perspective of one mother who shared that LST can be the happiest moment for her child.
Today Ofsted has judged TWO children's homes run by the same company inadequate, with serious and widespread failures that mean children and young people are not protected. Take a bow, Dimensions Care Limited

Utterly disgusting and even more so because the coroner thinks that learning disabilities is a cause of death.
Terrible indictment of our times. A very ill mum died despite phoning an ambulance & her daughter with Downs died probably through starvation. They were not found for months. Not a tragic situation it's about the breakdown of our services & communities nottinghampost.com/news/nottingha…
It’s everywhere and it’s unforgivable. Our video has other examples of the things people and their families have to put up with. youtu.be/zSO1GnKU1qw?si….
Hundreds of parents are being falsely accused of a rare form of abuse when they demand help for their unwell children. Elly Chapple was forcibly separated from her daughter for 8 months while being scrutinised. My investigation for the Sunday Times thetimes.com/article/720f66…
Sincerely hope that sharing our story will now bring about the withdrawal of the current, harmful #FII guidance and that our communities will no longer be targeted, just because we are perceived as 'different'. All humans are different. Time we did so much better than this 💜
Blaming and accusing parents is the go-to tactic for authorities who want to cover up their own inadequacies.

What about commissioners @wesstreeting?
🚨 Senior NHS managers are to be regulated by the @The_HCPC with a barring list to prevent those guilty of misconduct from working again in the NHS. @wesstreeting says this "will slam the door in the face of unsuitable managers"
"The kind of book I dreamt of having when my son's learning disability and possible autism were mooted... It is both scholarly and personal, erudite and profound, historical and bang up to date. It's not sentimental, it's realistic and hopeful." Thanks to @BaronessHollins
Maybe the government is looking to quietly abolish @AliveLeder because it knows that #BenefitCuts and #AssistedDying will only make things worse.
