Get an army and do something about it
15% for Trump the racketeer. What will remain from this: We can never allow ourselves to become this dependent on the USA again.
Sure, the average American works more hours, has fewer vacation days, and retires later, but the Europeans are "vassals" and "slaves."
Guy who promoted the nuclear phaseout in Germany now laments dependency on the US.
15% for Trump the racketeer. What will remain from this: We can never allow ourselves to become this dependent on the USA again.
Vassalization is a consequence of Green Deindustrialization, and the latter was a choice by the very Europen elites that are now whining on social media. You made this bed, and we all have to lie in it.
Bingo.
Europe's self-image, based mainly on fantasies of collective grandeur, gets a reality check: one day by China, the next day by America. Russia is simply ignoring Europe and only wants to deal with the US. Welcome to the new geopolitical world.
The result of the EU-US negotiations would not have surprised you if you watched this conversation between @peterboghossian and myself. youtu.be/_aoveT_FuK0?si…
I do not care about the legal retirement age but the effective retirement age. In the UK, that's 64. So yes, "early sixties."
Early sixties.. its 67 in the UK, they are looking to increase to 70
1.) Within a week,China and the US showed Europe that it has zero geopolitical leverage. 2.) What are Europeans complaining about? They will keep retiring in their early sixties, have more vacation and fewer work days than the Americans. 3.) Number 1.) is a consequence of 2.).
Tell me you do not understand economic statecraft without telling me you don't understand economic statecraft. @TheMichaelEvery
There is nothing to celebrate. Moving from average tariffs of less than 2% on trade between the USA and Europe to 15% under today’s deal will inevitably lead to inflation. Almost everything will become more expensive in both Europe and the USA, and we will all be worse off. The…
Or maybe the Royal Navy could patrol the English Channel and help protect the British people (aka your constituency) from illegal migration. But like most British politicians, you care about everyone in the world - except the people of Britain.
To break the Israeli blockade causing Palestinian children to die of malnutrition the British navy should escort a Dunkirk style fleet of small boats like this to deliver the essential food & medical supplies Gaza needs. Surely no civilised country can stand by & do nothing
Your cell phone might be more energy efficient, but you are probably using a number of additional, energy-intensive gimmicks you didn't in the past (AI, smartwatch, E-Reader, etc.). The idea that less energy-use (not just electricity) is somehow a sign of prosperity is insane.
"Efficiency Gains."
That we might have gained efficiency doesn't register?
This is an uncomfortable truth.
Minor correction re Germany and Japan. These countries did not become top economic powers because the United States ‘rebuilt’ them. The $$ from the Marshall Plan helped. But they became top powers because they were such highly advanced societies already with strong human capital…
If efficiency would be the answer, why does the EU have the highest electricity/energy prices?
That we might have gained efficiency doesn't register?
This should scare every European. While other nations (those with industries) are increasing their energy use, the EU's is DECLINING (from 62 to 52 Exajoules). We are on a path back to the stone age. PS: wind and solar have barely compensated for the loss of nuclear energy.

This is a good discussion, worth listening to. Ralph makes a lot of good points.

"This is the conversation stopper. Whoever in the debate is the 'N*zi', there's no way to get out of it." My third conversation with @Raphfel is now live on my channel.
Take 2: As the indispensable @holland_tom has argued, Hitler has replaced hell in the West's secular religion. But if you do not adhere to this religion (fewer and fewer do - especially migrants) Hitler will become popular in some circles in the West just as Stalin in the East.
“What do you guys think about Hitler?” Listen to the answers here It’s unbelievable that this is the level of rhetoric in 2025 But here we are Note this is @MyronGainesX’s podcast
