Every 6 hours in Scotland, someone dies of a preventable drug related death. We have the worst drug death rate in Europe & without action it will only get worse. That's why I have launched my Bill consultation in @ScotParl to establish Overdose Prevention Centres. Watch 👇👇
I have signed a letter to the British Government, along with my fellow Scottish Labour parliamentarians, requesting that the UK recognise the State of Palestine. It is an essential act to secure an enduring peace and end to the ongoing genocidal horror we are witnessing in Gaza.

We are grateful to @ScottishLabour MSPs for adding their names in support of our statement on recognition. Alongside yesterday’s statement from @AnasSarwar, it sends a clear message that all Scottish Labour MSPs support recognition of the State of Palestine.
NEW: pressure builds on Keir Starmer as now all his Scottish Labour MSPs, including Deputy Leader Jackie Baillie, have signed a statement urging the PM to recognise Palestine Leader Anas Sarwar made a similar call earlier this week
It’s simple: Scotland’s buses should be built in Scotland.
#OTD 1945. Election Landslide. Clement Attlee becomes first PM to lead a majority Labour government. Winning a 146 seat majority, he says "It will give heart to all those all the world over who believe in freedom, democracy and social justice" A thread 80 years on👇🏼
Argyle Street is one of Glasgow's longest roads but it only has one tree. The tree has stood proudly for 170 years - a living witness to the city's evolution. The Argyle Street Ash is shortlisted for The Woodland Trust Tree of the Year 2025 🗳️Vote here: bit.ly/3InyMSK
The 54 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines for this project were made in Le Havre, France It is owned by EDF, the French state electricity firm, and ESB, the Irish state electricity firm The cost of electricity made by the wind farm is £163/MWh, double the current wholesale price
Exciting privilege to inaugurate one of our offshore wind projects - Neart na Gaoithe - off the coast of Fife and serviced from Eyemouth. It is an amazing feat of engineering and an example of Scotland’s bright energy future.
🚗Robroyston roundabout is unsafe. That was the message that I heard loud and clear during my street surgery with @ThomasLabour this afternoon. 🚦We will be pushing for traffic lights and renewed markings to ease congestion.

I support the immediate recognition of the state of Palestine. But that in itself will not end the war. The mass starvation, indiscriminate killing and illegal occupation must end now.
Vote for Glasgow’s number one tree. The campaign for Tree of the Year is really starting to gain momentum now as people become aware of it and give it their support.

Great meeting on site today with @PaulJSweeney, Helen from @SpiritOSpring and Matt from @NetworkRailSCOT to discuss all things Springburn - a B listed station building in an ocean of Glasgow railway history.
📨This Friday, @ThomasLabour and I will be in Robroyston to kick off my series of summer roving surgeries - speaking to residents about the issues that affect them. Look out for a letter from me if you live locally.

I believe what we're witnessing in Gaza is genocide & support the Foreign Secretary’s comments that the new Israeli aid system in Gaza is inhumane & dangerous. I have again pressed the Foreign Secretary on the urgent need to recognise the state of Palestine.
It's nuts that people can repeat something that's just not true. The OBR data shows a *rise* in CGT receipts pre-budget because people expected a rise in tax. I expect there will be a fall post-Budget, but we won't get the data for a while (always a delay in CGT reporting)
Rachel Reeves's capital gains tax hike 'backfires' as Treasury loses £1.7bn amid wealth tax fears gbnews.com/money/capital-…
A UK wealth tax sounds simple: "tax the super‑rich, fund public services" But it's not. Our 16,000 word deep‑dive shows revenues are fragile, it puts growth, investment and jobs at risk, and there's no revenue before 2029. Here’s the evidence:
