A pretty regular mom and wyfe
I've been stealing away from the household for a little while each evening to pray compline & other devotions - just me n' Jesus in the Church. I started doing "proof of life" photos on my IG stories just to keep myself accountable. Sharing the ones so far here.

Twyla, our eldest, turns 20 today! Here she is helping her little brother out with some lettering on the icon he drew.

A parishioner has been keeping me in a steady supply of fresh mint from her garden. I make a big jar of it and drink all day. Hot, and then iced. This past Sunday, she also gifted me some Jamaican vervain, so I tossed some leaves in for good measure.

At that point in caramelized onions when it looks like they never will.
The flower farmer in IL who we are friends with (and the farm where the kids and I helped out) used to always say "Dahlias are divas!" as we put individual little organza bags over each bud to protect them.
Morning, shall we do a thread of lovely flowers? Yes why not!
you cannot begin your esoteric slightly schizo health journey until you know both a person who is obsessed with health but is annoyingly constantly ill, and someone who treats their body like a liquor store and drug dumpster but for some reason simply refuses to die.
We had a lovely dinner out. @FrMCDallman did ask the waitress about the chicken (which was excellent).
Getting ready to go out for our anniversary dinner and realizing I only have giant mom bags now, and not a single cute little clutch purse.
26 years married today, to @MystagogicalB—most happily, thanks be to God.

With this comes both knowledge of what makes something good and gratitude for material things. I know how a garment should be made (fabric, construction) because I knit. I appreciate the convenience of a can of tomatoes from the grocery store because I've canned them myself.
A big reason so many kids know nothing--actually illiterate, unable to do simple sorting tasks, don't know arithmetic, don't understand how things work--is almost never mentioned. It's not what's wrong with schools (though a lot is). It's not what's wrong with syllabi (though a…
2x2x2 rule. 2 eyes looking at them, w/ yr 2 feet planted firmly, grounding yrself, & no more than 2 ft away. For every couple dozen of these you do, you earn yourself 1 holler at 'em from the other room. Also, it is confusing to them when demands are made in request language.
Best advice I've received for toddlers being mischievous was from my mom, who raised her own kids and also taught preschool for many years: Don't talk across the room for them to stop doing something and not follow through. Always follow through. As days go by, they may do…
Clearly I need a poster sized print of this.
Did you know flowers can tell time? 🌼🕰️ In the 1700s, botanist Carl Linnaeus dreamed up a “flower clock” made of plants that open and close at specific hours of the day. 🌸💡 Imagine a garden where blooms unfold like clock hands—dandelions at 8 a.m., goat’s beard by noon, and…
The most successful homeschool families I've interviewed had daily, deep discussion with their kids - about books, movies, ideas, philosophy, faith... Conversation IS the curriculum♥️
Suddenly feeling the urge to put paella on the menu for this week.
There’s flamenco, and then there’s Paco de Lucía playing “Entre Dos Aguas”. Sheer mastery.
Just ordered some buttermilk starter! Thanks for the tip @quachelsey !
Just made peanut butter pudding. We haven't been our normal household size for a bit, and I neglected to change our standing dairy delivery. Now I have so much milk and yogurt. Am open to ideas for how to use it!
