Every time I put up curtains I think of Ivan Ilyich
It’s honestly so sweet when younger generations get into their parents’ stuff. I remember wearing a bridesmaid dress of my mom’s. Listening to my dad’s records. Messing with his old camping stuff. My girlfriend in high school had one of these phones. I also thought it was very…
I want to send this kid a Swatch watch.
An evening scraping the worst kind of stickers off with my old friend Goo Gone

Do you guys keep a deep freezer inventory? I’ve tried, but I’m poor at keeping up with it and then it’s sort of useless!
Brought our dinner to the beach tonight. Absolutely gorgeous evening. And as I looked out over the softly lapping waves, a gentle breeze coming off the water, I turned and said to my husband: "This makes me want to watch Jaws."
These guys want the government churning out rule-following warm bodies for their peace of mind. If you love your children and are willing to do your best to teach them, you are qualified.
Qualification assumes an external qualifying body, i.e. a central planning bureaucracy of control - what’s next for busybody statists to claim that parents are not “qualified” to do? Ridiculous and absurd.
If I were single these days, I too am sure I'd end up trying to find love online. But pure angst and courtship without the go-between of a phone or computer certainly is lovely.

My mom and I are teaching the kids how to play Old Maid and every time one of us picks the Old Maid, my kids absolutely lose it laughing. Something so simple… so much fun.
It's morning. But if you sit outside and listen to this it will make you feel pretty good.

Going to be hot today. Opening all doors and windows, letting all cool air in while we can.
Oh my gosh I just got really sad realizing that some young people will never get a mixtape or CD made for them.
What a beautiful and well-written story and one that can give so many hope ❤️
My last piece before maternity leave is about my journey to motherhood—and the journeys of other women for whom the road to pregnancy is far from straightforward. thefp.com/p/what-i-went-…
Kids are playing hide and seek, but they keep having the one who’s hiding be the one who shouts, “Ready or not here I come!” so the other one always hears their voice and finds them immediately. I was ready to help them switch it, but they’re having so much fun I don’t want to…
3yo playing in the yard: "Fee fie fum! I smell the blood of an English bun!"
I remember coming back from working overseas a few times, and my parents would pick me up in Chicago. We drove this route—north through Holland—to get home. Always the first difference that hit me between America and Europe was the ubiquity of billboards here. A true blight.
Driving to Grand Rapids this month, I was struck how the entire corridor from Chicago up through Holland is an uninterrupted wall of vice billboards. Pot, booze, trial lawyers, fireworks, casinos, erotic shops, show girls. Solid wave of it, for your bored preteens to stare at.
Stores really push pajama sets for kids hard. I'd like some simple princess-free nightgowns in cotton for my daughter, but they're pretty difficult to find.
Lot of people saying time flies. Is there anyone who gets old and says, "Wow that went really slowly, it took forever." I would like to hear from them.
In Denmark, 99% of their Jews survived WWII because the Danish people saved them from the Nazis. Denmark had a Jewish population of around 7,800. When the Nazis planned to deport Danish Jews in October 1943, a remarkable, large-scale rescue effort took place. The Danish…
