Controversial opinion: Learning walk feedback from SLT on experienced staff is rarely useful. Often the observer learns more in this situation. So maybe SLT could cover teaching staff so THEY could observe? That makes a lot more sense to me.

It’s finally summer 🥳🥳 It’s been a long term that been filled with personal challenges along the way. I’m looking forward to completing my NPQ, and mentoring a wonderful ECT next academic year. But first, rest 😎
On the flip side, I’d like to also curate a list of online resources which people DO recommend to their students to go alongside. This might be specific YouTube channels, social media handles, websites, etc. Are there any you think are particularly good?
ENGLISH TEACHERS: what are the worst things you’ve seen recommended by TikTok influencers? I’m putting a ‘red flags’ resource together to help students judge what’s nonsense… will share. Just want to see if I’m missing anything!
NGL “Miss, let me show these TikTok comments about you” put the fear in me a little 😂 but they were positive about how me saying hello or asking how a student was feeling made their day. Never underestimate the power of greeting students by the classroom door - teaching or not!
Happy Easter! Hope all you lovely #edutwitter lot are having a relaxing day before the madness recommences!

Something to reflect upon. I went into my first teaching interview with a board pen and some copies of a poem…I recently asked if it was ok to not have a PowerPoint (of course it was). I wonder why I lost that confidence!

Editing Y9 Romeo and Juliet lessons for next term taking inspiration from @__codexterous and @af_english123 👌🏻 thanks guys!

💯 this. Classroom culture and routines, and positive praise are vital. Safe space means it’s safe to try and get things wrong, not to be excused trying.
[12] Sometimes, we put limits on kids for the sake of not experiencing being *temporarily uncomfortable*. If we don't afford them the safe space to do this, we are setting them up with a harder battle later in life. Our job is to show them they can do things that scare them.
Our fabulous group of year 12 A Level @qkapeterborough literature students got to work on liminality in ‘Small Island’ today 👌🏻

A level teachers - how do you teach students to use a copy of the text effectively in their exam? #edutwitter #alevel
I’m still a little miffed my Maleficent cap didn’t fit 😂 #worldbookday2025

Created a little PowerPoint theme that utilises our @TDETeducation pedagogical model 👌🏻 this should give clarity of direction for students and embed expectations. Big thanks for those who have shared updated AQA lang resources!
I’m so privileged to teach such a hard-working and funny group of year 10s. They are nailing their AIC character analysis 🤌🏻

Very excited to be sharing all things curriculum and female empowerment @LitdriveUK conference in March! I’m session 4 - ‘What would Mary Shelley do?” Empowering young females through the literature and language curriculum. See ya there 💃📚🐝
They’re finally directing inference for AQA P2, Q2! More than I could have dreamed 😂 🎉🥳🍾 aqa.org.uk/subjects/engli…
Some interesting changes for 2026
Cheeky little balloon day for me 🥳 39 years young and feeling every year of it 😂

***TEACHING AND LEARNING*** Thread 🧵 To improve the use of teaching and learning techniques in the classroom we need to define them “this is how we do it here” and make it common practice across the school. When implementing T&L techniques their success relies on this…
Direct instruction is joyful & leads pupils to success. Here is a *clip* where I use high frequency & high participation questioning in 3 phases: 1. Check for listening 2. Rehearsal 3. Check for understanding Established routines: all hands up, turn & talk, SLANT & ruler reading
Lovely to start 2025 in rather illustrious company!! Great to finally meet the fantastic @PippaBusch and do some work with @TDETRecruitment and @qkapeterborough
