***TEACHING AND LEARNING*** Thread 🧵 To improve the use of teaching and learning techniques in the classroom we need to define them “this is how we do it here” and make it common practice across the school. When implementing T&L techniques their success relies on this…

Hey, @grok, who is the most famous person to visit my profile? Don't tag them, just say who it was.
Great progress this week transforming our toilet facilities 🤩 #TheLongdendaleLegacy

Agreed Sam We need an effective complaints & escalation process for parents/carers for when things go wrong/break down… …however, what we have now is not fit for that purpose
And this isn’t meant in a snarky way but it’s why I constantly cite that until people sit in the chair they don’t really understand the role, what it demands & the pressure it brings. Hence the OP by Patrick and he’s absolutely right.
You still have to hear the actual complaint. That’s what needs addressing. The system needs changing.
A big development happening ready for September! Brand new toilet blocks which will make a massive difference to our operation 👇 #TheLongdendaleLegacy

Expertise isn't about having more working memory, it's about needing less of it. Experts automate many components in long-term memory and can recognise meaningful patterns instantly, bypassing the need to process individual elements. ⬇️ 🧵
In the past 6 weeks, I’ve spoken to 5 headteachers who are leaving their schools due to the issue… …& more who are experiencing real difficulties Since my earlier post, I have received 5 DMs from struggling HTs You are right, it should not be allowed!
I’ve taken 4 calls this weekend from heads who’re being harassed &/or bullied by parents… …it’s greatly increased in recent years & is now crippling our leaders! You might have already broken up for the summer… …but I’d like to suggest that you check-in on your headteacher
Every few years we rediscover that learning is hard work and effortful in the short term. Then we spend the next few years trying to make it fun and effortless again.
My first year as a Headteacher complete and what a year it has been! ✅ I’m proud of what we have achieved as a school community 😊 It was lovely to receive some appreciation cards today from students 🤩 #TheLongdendaleLegacy
If we want to break the link between background & success then statements such as grades don’t make kids happy need to go where they belong, in a bin. Of course we want kids to enjoy school & learning but grades matter & open up so many doors for them.

100% agree 👇
In 25 years of teaching, I have never seen such a rapid & fundamental change in the way children are thinking, behaving & interacting. I thought it was Covid but I now think it's the digital age they're growing up in & I really hope people cleverer than me are looking in to this.
One of the best heads I've ever seen. Amazing work 👏
