6:43 am radar update: showers and thunderstorms continue across portions of north-central Missouri this morning. The flash flood warning for southern Linn County and surrounding areas remains through 8 am.
‼️ There’s still a serious threat for dangerous heat through next week. ☀️ Don’t let your guard down when making your weekend plans & prepare accordingly. 🥵 Don’t wait until it’s too late to drink water & check on those who may be higher risk during periods of extreme heat.
Saturated ground + training storms = rapid flash flooding risk, especially in urban areas. Stay alert, have multiple ways to receive warnings, & avoid flooded roads.
8:30 PM 7/25 Update The severe storm threat has greatly diminished. Flash flooding remains a concern overnight. Storms are expected to redevelop around/after midnight across NE KS into NW & WC MO. Rainfall rates of 1–2"/hr could lead to 1–4" totals, with locally 6"+.

Another round of heavy rain is likely again this evening into the overnight hours. Confidence is high that some areas will experience flooding, with localized rainfall amounts potentially up to 5". Stay weather aware!
Earlier this week, Director Remillard & some of our SEMA team members met with @MissouriPSC staff to discuss how disaster response & recovery efforts are coordinated when public utilities are severely impacted. It was also a great conversation about future planning & resiliency.

Our Deputy Director, Terry Cassil, was among the 85 MO-TF1 members deployed to support search and recovery operations. The remaining 4 members of the team return later this week.
While the majority of the team returned today, four MO-TF1 members remain in Texas to support @FEMA's search and recovery mission.
