Maslaha
@Maslaha
Maslaha takes a multi-layered + creative approach to tackling long-standing social issues affecting Muslim communities & challenges systems of inequality.
@RaheelMohammd on @LBCNews The leadership that has been lacking from Govt came from communities mobilising together to stand in solidarity and love against racism/Islamophobia in our society It is now the Govt’s duty to address structural racism and #Islamophobia in society
We have begun legal proceedings in the High Court to challenge the government’s decision to authorise the use of PAVA spray in prisons holding children. Please support us: crowdjustice.com/case/stop-the-…
Read this account by a British surgeon of treating a woman in Gaza shot by a quadcopter while breastfeeding her child in a tent and then try to imagine the general mentality of the person piloting the drone who hunted her down and then pulled the trigger.
I’m witnessing the deliberate starvation of Gaza’s children – why is the world letting it happen? | Nick Maynard | The Guardian theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

No child should be subject to strip searches in school, and police have no business in our schools. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
The Daily Mail has released this thing where you put your postcode in and it says what percentage of people don't speak english in your area. That is absolutely abhorrent and a clear incitement to racial tension and worse.
"Despite huge changes in policy, the trickle down for anti-racism is much, much slower in Wales." @InsaafiCIC's Yasmin & Saqib explore the issue of racial injustice in child strip searches and call for devolution of our justice system 👉 ow.ly/GPoX50VRSGl #thewelshagenda

🚨BREAKING🚨 WE’VE WON OUR CASE TO #DefendDemocracy The Court of Appeal has ruled that anti-protest laws which completely ignored the will of Parliament are unlawful
This is not a victory Based on Govt data we know Muslims/ racialised groups are more likely to have PAVA (pepper spray) used against them in adult prisons No reason why this won’t be repeated in prisons for children where over 50% are from Black/brown communities
I rarely stray from my everyday #humanrights issues, but this report from @Maslaha is deeply concerning. "Prison officers are more likely to use force against Muslims than non-Muslims in prison. Ranging from use of batons to twisting wrists". maslaha.org/project/briefi…
Based on Govt data we know Muslims/ racialised groups are more likely to have PAVA (pepper spray) used against them in adult prisons No reason why this won’t be repeated in prisons for children where over 50% are from Black/brown communities It appears their lives matter less
I will always ensure our staff have the tools they need to protect themselves and young people in custody. The rollout of PAVA incapacitant spray to the youth estate is crucial to preventing serious harm and tackling unacceptable violence against frontline officers.…
The Ministry of Justice has announced the introduction of PAVA spray for use against children in prison. The Howard League will take whatever steps necessary, including legal action, to challenge this decision. Please support our crowdfunder 🙏crowdjustice.com/case/stop-the-…
Today, the Ministry of Justice has announced the introduction of PAVA spray against children in prison. The Howard League strongly objects to any approach that inflicts pain on someone deliberately. Read our response here: howardleague.org/news/howard-le…
Justice Secretary @ShabanaMahmood just announced tasers will be trialled in prisons after pressure from the prison officers’ union. In a structurally racist system, Black and brown people already face unequal use of force and abuse in prisons. This will only create more harm.

Worrying rhetoric on the need for tasers in prison in light of our recent briefing on use of force against Muslims Also, if you are Muslim/Black you are more likely to have PAVA (pepper spray) used against you Tasers are not the answer @JamesTCobbler @ShabanaMahmood
Muslims are more likely to have force used against them in prisons than non-Muslims which involve pain-inducing techniques Our data shows that proper scrutiny of this state sanctioned violence is missing and points to an unequal justice system theguardian.com/society/2025/a…
