I am excited to have had the opportunity to present our data on the salivary cortisol rhythm in #LongCovid at #CROI2025. Further studies are needed to investigate its role in symptom development and the potential for hormonal supplementation in this syndrome. @andreaantinori

frontiersin.org/journals/cellu… 💥💥💥 In the hope that our perspective on #longcovid can contribute to scientific progress in identifying the right therapeutic target @andreaantinori (figure by my best friend).

Lots of attention on cortisol in #LongCovid lately. Here are results from a pilot project in the @UCSF #LIINC cohort. Similar levels between LC and recovered, but morning dynamics appear to differ, esp. in those with post-COVID ME/CFS. Detailed follow up project ongoing.
Doing good science is 90% finding a science buddy to constantly talk to about the project.
Di #LongCovid si parla troppo poco in Italia e le cure sono inadeguate. Sono necessari fondi e sforzi condivisi per sviluppare studi clinici interventistici. Articolo divulgativo su @romatoday @andreaantinori @INMISpallanzani 👇🏾 drive.google.com/file/d/1vuqwZC…
Another excellent paper by @andreaantinori & team, highlighting the need to assess ALL aspects of the immune response to the #MVA-BN #vaccine for #mpox. Key findings 1 year post-vaccination: - 1/3 of non-primed individuals had low nAb levels - Humoral response detectable in…

As usual, topnotch #LongCovid work being supported by @polybioRF. Congrats to the team at @CUBoulderBN on this impressive work. Successive hits on the immune system leading to neuroendocrine and HPA axis depletion makes a ton of sense and puts together some more puzzle pieces 👏🏼

mdpi.com/journal/ijms/s…. The goal of this SI is to shed light on new immunological and inflammatory mechanisms triggered during acute infectious diseases or that may contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory or degenerative diseases. The submissions are now open!🦠👇🏾

Thank you @megdrosen for writing about recent studies by the team of @DrDenDunnen and ours (@keylas3 et al with @PutrinoLab) on "Rogue antibodies may cause some long COVID symptoms". Great comments from colleagues @DrMMukherjee and Ignacio Sanz 🙏🏽 sciencenews.org/article/rogue-…

Long-COVID is a VERY heterogeneous disease, and this study, as others, add do this perspective. Antibodies from different patients can cause different responses in mice.
Scientists can work in a complementary way and find the same results. As a microscopist, I see neuronal proteins “disappearing” from the brain in the presence of #SARSCoV2 markers. Other scientists are detecting fragments of these proteins in the blood.
Lots of interesting stuff was presented at the NIH ME/CFS and Long COVID Conference. The link from @chydorina is a great summary of the findings. More here: nih.gov/news-events/ni… The Nath study proposed that ME/CFS was an immune-driven brain disorder. I agree. And there is…
