#LongCovid is associated with reduced quality of life in a sample of dozens of track and field masters athletes. "Furthermore, low-grade inflammation based on CRP levels was associated with self-reported cardiac and flu-like symptoms."
Grateful to be named one of the 317 Catherine Worthingham Fellows of the American Physical Therapy Association. Patients, participants, colleagues, friends, collaborators, and people with whom I disagree have pushed me for years to best help others in need. I owe this to them.
Thrilled to share I’ve joined @visible_health as Communications and Policy Lead. I’ve long respected their work, and I’m excited to work with them to push forward tools, research, and systemic change. A different angle on the challenge - with the same commitment to change.
Long Covid is not in your head. It's in your blood. And your lungs. And your heart. And your muscles. And your oxygen usage processes. Long Covid is real. Long Covid is physical.
This data extends previous work which has found that exercise capacity is reduced in people with Long COVID (using a single maximal exercise test). However, only one study had investigated the utility of a 2-day approach and found just one difference in submaximal measures.
It's not surprising that LC is decreasing. Diagnosis is hard to come by in the "covid is over" era, treatment is all but non-existent, and there is stigma attached to even mentioning the word. So we need to look at the long-term conditions covid causes. 3/9
Firstly, Long Covid. Fewer people describe themselves as having it: 4.2%, compared to 4.6% last year. There is however an increase both in the number of people who say they don't know (as opposed to 'no') and people who would prefer not to say. 2/9
Goodness gracious me. This has all the hallmarks of a cover up... @alanbarnard1 Interestingly, HSE's website used to display advice for HCWs caring for SARS patients - FFP3s must be worn. (Orginal SARS - 2002/3, an airborne disease and a betacoronavirus, just like SARS-COV-2)
What actually helps people with ME/CFS and long COVID? Not theory - but real-world data from 3,925 patients who rated over 150 treatments. A new peer-reviewed study in PNAS (2025) analyzed what helped - and for which symptoms. Here’s what patients report, symptom by symptom:🧵
I’m trying to figure out how #COVID and #LongCovid can affect periods (by disrupting brain circuitry involving the hypothalamus) for a big project. Do you or anyone you know have had disruptive changes in the menstrual cycles after getting COVID or any of the symptoms below?
2/3. Rob & Joey have explained: "We're aware of several players within Shropshire Cricket Leagues who have tragically had to stop playing cricket because of this devastating illness…we have unfortunately witnessed the shocking, life changing effects #LongCovid can have” More⬇️
💖1/3. We’ll be so excited to see Rob & Joey take off on their 114-mile tandem cycle to 13 Shropshire cricket clubs! They are supporting friend & fellow cricketer Charlie who has #LongCovid, & we're thrilled they've chosen our cause🙏 Find out more below!⬇️ #Fundraising

For more details about the flawed chain of decisions which has led to the utterly inadequate infection control guidance we have in hospitals today, please see my megathread below which walks you through some of the most shocking evidence from the Covid Inquiry (module 3) ⬇️
COVID INQUIRY: X Megathread 🧵 As module 3 of the @covidinquiryuk draws to a close, I’ve been looking back at what we’ve learned about how it all went so wrong with infection control guidance for hospitals. This is a long thread, so please grab a cuppa & make yourself comfy…
