This. I honestly don’t know why we need any ambassadors/tzars, etc. There’s an argument that it would be good to have someone who understands that diff school contexts may need different approaches, but we hardly need an officially appointed person to tell us that.
The issue doesn’t need a behaviour ambassador. What it needs is more early support for parents (like sure start), more funding for schools and more specialist provision for SEND. Paying an ambassador, whoever it is, is a waste of money IMO
One outlet was claiming that the GoFundMe campaign was organised by a 'convicted fraudster from Wales.' There are even claims that the whole thing was a 'set up.' Then the claims about the father...in short, we don't know the truth & those making judgements should probably stop!
Tom Bennett must know that in a media storm school leaders have to respect confidentiality. This often inhibits them from sharing information that might recalibrate public perceptions.
Wise words here. I try not to judge when stories in the media are clearly very one-sided. Whether or not the school did anything wrong, it's foolish to jump to conclusions when they are unable to give full details.

What is this obsession with interviews and auditions? How many have we had over recent months? (The cheese interviews, Rochelle, Joy, etc etc). Bonkers. #TheArchers.
I was once involved in designing an inspection framework. The process was very time-consuming and thorough. We then had pilot inspections, took feedback and made changes, which took months and months. How on earth can Ofsted do everything in time for November?
If Ofsted are delaying the publication of the consultation outcomes, they should delay the re-introduction of inspection. I cannot see everything can be squashed into a couple of months; schools, especially the first to be inspected, will be seriously disadvantaged.
So this is the letter sent by Martyn Oliver asking for more time - I it he says the proposals are “not set in stone” . This feels like a massive understatement when faced by huge resistance from the education unions gov.uk/government/pub…
Adam is right. I can't tell you how much I hate this stuff about how 'poor' kids need ultra-strict discipline, a particular type of curriculum and a 'just tell them' approach to teaching. As a 'poor' ex-council estate kid myself - no. It's not just false, it's insulting.
Second, *everyone* needs a different curriculum. It's bloated, inflexible, outdated, not creative enough. That applies to all kids, not just those 'disadvantaged' ones we're asked to imagine here: the kids being graciously civilised & elevated beyond their bookless home-lives. ⬇️
Agreed-it’s been going on for years. It’s divisive stuff & the last thing we need. Surely even the fans can see that?
It's the division @tombennett71 causes. Exactly what we don't need more of in education ATM. Agree? RT.
I'm off to find the online chat group specialising in competitive cricket teas... #TheArchers
I thought that Rochelle's mission was to get into the killing room rather than the lairage? Saskia said they already had good footage of the poor animals waiting to be murdered...#TheArchers
Frank speaks the truth.
But, thealternativebiglisten.co.uk made clear more radical proposals were needed. I am regularly returning to the Coroner's Report, post Caversham, and feeling current proposals, even with tinkering, are repeating previously identified weaknesses. The hole is being made deeper, IMHO.
Where does Ofsted go from here? Nearly two-thirds think Ofsted reforms are worse, ‘alternative’ consultation finds schoolsweek.co.uk/nearly-two-thi… It can tinker around the edges but if it can’t take those it inspects with them it is probably a spent force.
As a parent, I want a healthy, happy workforce teaching my child. Not one that is constantly stressed, overworked and anxious because they’re aware that all their hard work could be rubbished by a visitor who has <2 days to interpret and apply some very vague statements and
Husband received an email from Tesco today- it included what has to be one of the best lines ever: “We were sorry to hear about the screw in your custard.”
It used to be confined to ‘Easter’ being taken off eggs but we’re now seeing more & more of this nonsense about schools supposedly ‘converting’ children to Islam. Why don’t these people just talk to schools & find out what we teach in RE?
Just been chatting to one of my neighbours, she was telling me about her 7 year old grandson coming home from school the other day and telling his Dad that Allah is great and we should praise Allah!!! The little lad soon changed his mind when his Dad told him there'll be no…
Good point Terry. Have @YouGov surveyed school staff in the same way? If so I’d like to see the outcomes. And if not, why not?
.@YouGov I have been searching for the survey that is mentioned in the piece on the link below without any success. Please send a link to it, or let me know if it is unavailable: x.com/Ofstednews/sta…
What worries me about all this is there is a real sense of parents’ views being seen as more important than anyone else’s. But it’s vital that Ofsted takes seriously the views of those who will be at the sharp end of inspection-ie, school staff & leaders.
Been stewing over this tweet, but I believe it is grossly irresponsible and an act of bias by Ofsted to release findings of a limited survey that could influence the outcomes from their current national survey with still over a month to run. Does this make their report invalid?
So ‘some’ parents say they like the report card - do they understand the exact meaning of phrases like ‘achievement is patchy’? Because I don’t.
Nothing better than creating a barrier between all the groups who need to be able to trust the inspection process including the report cards. Ofsted should be building bridges while waiting for the findings of their current consultation.
