“We investigated whether social learning strategies, which are central for human adaptation, can be explained by domain-general reward learning mechanisms.”
This research advances a mechanistic reward learning account of social learning strategies. Through experiments & simulations, it shows how people learn to learn from others, dynamically shaping the processes involved in cultural evolution. @DSchultner nature.com/articles/s4156…
I sometimes see claims like 'education is so far behind *other disciplines* when it comes to evidence'. Vibes based.
I remain concerned that the current Fwk has not taken onboard sufficiently issues raised by the Coroner. A slow start doesn't resolve the fundamental issues.
tes.com/magazine/news/… “The assurance the sector needs is for Ofsted & the government to rethink the current proposals & then introduce the new inspection system in a less frantic manner, giving schools & colleges time to absorb & prepare for what are very significant changes.”
💜💜💜 We need to remember this- Teachers thrive on autonomy
I don't see why there has to be a conflict between exploration, creativity, discovery, and learning facts. Kids learn all kinds of interesting things as they explore topics that interest them.
"Learning facts is going to fade into the background." 🤦♂️ Quick thread on why this is a terrible take🧵⬇️
I’ve just arrived in Northern India to volunteer 2 weeks of teacher development. We’re working in schools run by the Tibetan community, who are exiled here. Have to say this message beats an OFSTED banner hands down! Looking forward to meeting the children tomorrow.
Ive copied the first page of 2.
Is there a report on these bonuses?
And most of the senior leadership team were awarded bonus payments.

Am I the only one this doesn't sit right with? In messaging, what’s not said is often as important as what is. The word “renewed” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. It signals continuity—not reform. Not rewrite. Just... more of the same…gov.uk/government/new…

There’s a lesson here. Let me share my experience of being “consulted”. In 2020 I was asked for my views on a document the DFE were producing. I agreed to have a look. It landed in my inbox late one Friday afternoon and it was large. For context, this was during the pandemic and
Prof Myhill, Professor Emerita at the University of Exeter and one of 40 experts listed in the document as having been consulted, told me she had contributed to the review only to send back detailed concerns about it.
A very interesting report on centralised lesson plans, teacher workload & job satisfaction. gold.ac.uk/news/2025/are-…
