Possibly the worst take on this. Speaking as the mother of a 16yr old and former secondary teacher- 16yr olds are interested what shapes their world and future. They should have a stake and a vote. They'll certainly have a better argument for votes than the one here.

I wrote to @IslingtonTrib about tackling housing fraud which has enabled us to reclaim 155 council homes. Recently, I increased the capacity of the team @IslingtonBC . This week we secured another conviction - and £23,000 in compensation. @IslingtonLabour @IslingtonNorth

This announcement is a big step forward for our democracy. Young people deserve more say in their future. I’ve called for this change since my time as an MP - it’s long overdue. I urge everyone eligible to register, vote, and make their voice count ⬇️

Delighted the Government will extend the vote to 16 & 17 year olds! Long overdue and a recognition of the trust we’re putting in the next generation, many of whom are incredibly knowledgable about politics. They work and pay tax, so why shouldn’t they get the right to vote?

Today we’re delivering on our promise to give 16 and 17 year olds the right to vote. Young people already contribute to society by working, paying taxes and serving in the military. It's only right they can have a say on the issues that affect them. #VotesAt16

Congratulations to Rachel Reeves and Darren Jones for announcing the £500 million social impact fund which will help transform children and youth services in the coming years and into which social investors may add an additional £500 million.

Private renting leaves too many in shocking conditions, paying thousands to landlords each month. Labour is thankfully strengthening renters’ rights and fixing the broken system. Proud to speak in favour of our @IslingtonLabour motion at #IslingtonFC last week:
