20+ years ago, we had community farmer trainers at sub-county level. My mum used to travel 10Kms - by boda boda to a community center once or twice a month, and so did our neighbors. We had food (matooke) and sold some every Friday. That system broke down in 2001. @narouganda

It's horrible and has gotten worse! In my village, people eat wild greens, boiled with salt, and no food, once a day at 4 pm. Children are malnourished, and so are the adults. So sad!

20yrs ago, our villages were rich with food! And some cash from selling excess food produce! Now, they buy posho for survival from the shops! What really happened? 😭🤦 Can we have a discourse about rural poverty in 2025.
