This woman’s brutal killing won’t attract attention because there’s no video of it.That’s what we’ve become:a society so numb and senseless that violence against women is only acknowledged if it’s caught on camera. In this silence, women’s murder has been normalised @HRCPakistan
Just days ago, she called for Baloch women to be tied to barbed wire & their clothes torn. Then she showed up at the camp in Balochi attire. How can a woman speak this way about other women? The state must act responsibly. Such voices don’t serve it but they worsen the crisis.
A least discussed&most neglected issues affecting Balochistan is youth suicide, which is on rise in the Makran region.Recently,a young man named Javed Rahim from Dasht,Kech, took his own life. This is a serious issue that requires proper academic attention & research @hecpkofficial
#Thread There has been an alarming increase in suicide incidents in #Balochistan.Causes include mental health n family honor.Acc to PAANK, a non-profit org monitoring rights situation in Balochistan, there were 56 documented cases of suicide in 2022. 1/8 @UNFPAPakistan @dpr_gob
Agree to disagree at some points, particularly where the author frames honour killings as purely a tribal issue. However, it’s an insightful read to understand the culture of impunity that perpetrators enjoy. I’m quoted in the piece. dawn.com/news/1925649/t…
If you read one thing today about how the system protects those who oppress women, let it be this thread. We raise our voices, but we forget too soon and we rarely name the culprits. Must read this: @MaryamNSharif @JaneMarriottUK @HamidMirPAK @RKionka @CMShehbaz @MaryLawlorhrds
Thread There is a lot of outrage on social media over killing of a woman in name of honour. Some blame Baloch tribal culture, while others blame the Baloch people themselves. But let’s break it down & ask: where does the problem start, & who protects this rotten system?
I am hearing woman is from Satakzak tribe and a man from Sumalani tribe and were killed in Margat area near Hanna, Quetta, three days before Eid. Govt says an FIR will be lodged & arrests will be made soon.
Can’t breathe after seeing this cruelty. Will state use the same force it unleashes on peaceful activists to bring this to justice? Make an example out of him so the next lunatic thinks twice before killing a woman for choosing her own life @NLinPakistan @PakSarfrazbugti @Malala

Formally registered a complaint at the request of police in Quetta today. I took this step to ensure predators do not continue to harass girls with impunity, & to help create an environment where women feel safer, more empowered, & confident to speak out against harassers.
Quetta is alarmingly unsafe for women to commute. A white car (num plate: APZ800) followed me for an hour on Brewery road & threw a phone num at me twice. I was traumatised Can these harassers be controlled @hamzashafqaat @ShahidRind @Advjalila @Akbar_notezai @PakSarfrazbugti
Grateful to Netherlands in Pakistan for spotlighting my work. For far long, issues like gender-based violence, climate change, and their impact on mental health in Balochistan have been neglected. Glad these challenges finally receiving the attention they deserve @@HennyFdeVries
Today, we want to put the spotlight on @ImranaImdad , who recently completed 3-month exchange program in the 🇳🇱Netherlands. It’s inspiring to see her back in Balochistan, applying the knowledge and skills she gained to address critical issues.

Rulers often speak of bringing change, but even Quetta remains as worse. No regulation, no cleanliness, and open manholes just two minutes' walk from the Chief Minister’s House, uncovered gutter lines pose serious risks. @cs_balochistan @PakSarfrazbugti

Climate change is not just an environmental crisis. It is a mental health emergency. In Balochistan, rising heat, floods & displacement are fueling anxiety, trauma & hopelessness. Govt & donors must invest in climate-linked mental health support now. @NLinPakistan @rukiye_EU

No surprise Pakistan ranks 148 out of 148 in the global gender gap index. In a country where women are routinely denied leadership roles to protect fragile male egos, face widespread sexual harassment, & are often expected to trade favours for better opportunities @NLinPakistan

More than a year passed, yet a father whose daughter was killed is still going from court to court seeking justice. One of the many reasons why people don’t report honour killings & gender-based violence to courts @PakSarfrazbugti @cs_balochistan @HumairaBaloch15 @unwomen_pak
A poor woman was mercilessly killed by her husband in the name of so-called honor in Lakara Lasbela. Her family needs justice. The DC of Lasbela, being a woman, should take note of this gruesome killing. @DCLasbelaOffice @HumairaBaloch15 @cs_balochistan @PakSarfrazbugti @ncswpk
The mental health of refugees especially children, & in particular Afghan refugee children in Pakistan is in a truly fragile state, but very much neglected. Spent time with some Afghan kids a while ago, & was deeply shaken by the level of trauma they carry.
🌏On #WorldRefugeeDay, we stand in solidarity with all #refugees around the globe.🕊️ 💙Let’s celebrate the shared resilience of refugees and host communities and invest in their future
As always, health especially mental health is neglected in the current fiscal budget. Balochistan faces a mental health catastrophe due to ongoing violence, environmental changes, unemployment & social taboos. Mental health has never been a priority here. @PakSarfrazbugti
