From what I can tell, the last time floodgates at Buchanan Dam were opened was in May 2019, six years ago.

Below is rainfall accumulation from a complex of storms in central Texas starting last night through this morning. These storms prompted numerous flash flood warnings with many locations reporting 5-7 inches with locally higher maximums.

Texas Task Force 1 has already rescued dozens of Texans in the Lampasas area. They and other first responders will continue operations to prioritize saving lives.
River Flood Warning for the Guadalupe River until Monday morning- expected to rise to 14.6’ ft Sunday afternoon as heavy stalled rains are forecast much of the day.
