Love from Austin … MY NEW HOME! 🩷🤠 I’m so happy to announce that I will be joining the team at @KVUE as their newest meteorologist! You can join me on @KVUE Daybreak Monday - Friday from 4:30-7am beginning April 24th. Howdy. Austin! 👋

Well here we go again... heavy rain & storms already developing across parts of the Hill Country this AM, with a Flood Advisory in effect from parts of Mason co., to Llano Co. & Burnet Co. Not what we need or want to see. Rainfall rates near 4"/hour in the band south of Llano.

Breaking- Two people confirmed dead after a shooting in eastern Travis County off Dalmatian Lane, south of 290. The two victims- a corrections officer for Travis County Sheriff’s Office in his 20’s and a teenage female. The two are related. @KVUE
Everyday in July so far has been at or cooler than average. Currently, we are at the 11th coolest July on record. We have yet to reach 100° in July. If we get through July w/ out breaking 100° that would be the first time since 2010. In 2010, we also had no 100° heat in June.

For reference, this is what our drought looked like just two months ago in May: Much of the Hill Country was dealing with the highest level of drought.
And the drought continues to improve!! Here's a look at this week to last week's drought monitor. 2 weeks ago, there was "Exceptional" drought in a good chunk of Gillespie Co., Now? Gillespie Co. is drought free, with just some spots featuring abnormally dry conditions.

A sight for sore eyes: NO RAIN in our Austin 7-day forecast. 🌞 Friday could bring a few showers to our Coastal Plains counties, but the Hill Country and Austin metro are getting a well-deserved and very needed break from the rain for at least the next week. 🙌

LCRA stating that they will open at least two floodgates at Buchanan Dam this afternoon. @KVUE
LCRA plans to open at least two floodgates at Buchanan Dam early this afternoon. This morning, one floodgate is open at Wirtz Dam and multiple floodgates are open at Starcke Dam. More info: hydromet.lcra.org/floodstatus
FLASH FLOOD WARNING now in effect for Llano and Burnet counties.

This weekend, our flood risk increases yet again with the return of scattered storms (about a 40-50% storm chance on both Saturday and Sunday for now). Isolated to scattered instances of flash flooding will be possible. Make sure you have a way of getting alerts this weekend!

BIG DROUGHT UPDATE: Since last weekend's extreme rainfall, where some areas across Central TX had a catastrophic 20"-25" of rain, drought has been nearly eliminated for our area. Areas in yellow are now coming out of drought, w/ only small spots of mod.-severe drought remaining

This morning, one floodgate is open at both Wirtz and Starcke dams to move flood runoff downstream. Flows below the dams are higher and faster than usual. More info: hydromet.lcra.org/floodstatus
This morning, we're waking up to no flood watches, no flood warnings, and no rain. A great sight to see. Some spotty storms will return this afternoon, but the focus will away from the areas hardest hit with rain and flooding, with highest rain chances along and east of I-35.

LCRA has partially opened one floodgate at both Wirtz Dam & Starcke Dam to release storm runoff flowing into Lake LBJ from the Llano River. Flows downstream will be fast & water levels will be higher than usual downstream of the dams. Take action to protect people & property.
FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS in effect from Llano to Burnet Co. Rainfall rates in NW Burnet Co. now being estimated at around 4" per hour in some spots by radar. With how saturated soils are, flooding can develop FAST. Stay off the roads in those areas right now.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Burnet until 7/07 11:30AM. #atxwx
Update- At least 82 people dead. 68 in Kerr County- 28 of them children. 11 people dead in Travis, Williamson and Burnet Counties. State leaders say at least 40 others are still missing- 10 from Camp Mystic in Hunt. @KVUE
A new Flood Warning in effect for the Llano River on this Monday morning. Heavy rain is falling in the area, where the river is now expected to rise back to flood stage, cresting at 11.3 feet this evening. A higher crest into Moderate flood stage is possible.
