Group leader at Barts Cancer Institute. Interested in the epigenetic regulation of ‘normal to cancer’ transition. TEDx: https://youtu.be/_gJK0JxxFOY
📢 New publication from our lab spearheaded by @Emilysaun, a truly collaborative work with Bonnet lab (Crick) @DrHHEncabo and Marion Piganeau, @EpigenomicMed @JulieDevis J. Gribben and @kevin_rouault pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn… This story aims to disentangle cause and consequence..🧵
Only a couple of months left until our official QMUL Centre for Epigenetics Launch Conference! We will have an amazing list of guest speakers, including Bas Heijmans from Leiden University, Medical Centre,Netherlands. Book your free ticket now! eventbrite.co.uk/e/qmul-centre-…
Let's do CRISPRa without virus and plasmids!!! Congratulations to Tobi and all the authors ! It was a really fun project, revealing some exciting results! academic.oup.com/nar/article/53…
The effect on epigenetic aging was mediated solely by a reduction in body temperature, and not decreased metabolism or caloric restriction.
I’m excited to share my work over the last few years with @JD_Buenrostro! Chronic inflammation creates an epigenetic memory in colonic stem cells, priming them for tumor growth: tinyurl.com/ColitisNagaraj…. Here’s a walkthrough of what we found (🧵)
Effect of longevity interventions on epigenetic clocks: Strongest: 1. Arthritis therapy/anti-TNFa 2. Metformin 3. HBOT 4. AC-11 5. Bypass 6. Ketamine 7. Vegan/Mediterranean No effect: 1. Rapamycin 2. Omegas 3. Exercise 4. Vitamin B 5. CR/IF 6. Ozempic 7. Follistatin More ⬇️
I wrote down my rules on how to Science. I hope you find it useful!
Talking to cells in the cell culture hood is not mad, but now we can do it for real
🗨️ WANNA TALK TO YOUR CELLS? Try out CellWhisperer – our new multimodal AI that turns single-cell RNA-seq analysis into a conversation. No coding needed, just chat in plain English. Short walkthrough below. Web app & bioRxiv preprint linked in the thread. Let's dive in! (1/9)

Join us today (Friday 3:30pm) to experience a truly exceptional talk. Angelo Lombardo will be presenting his work on repairing epigenenetic information in vivo for therapeutic purposes. He is also the founder of startup companies, an exciting journey across academia and industry.
We are excited to host a hybrid seminar by Angelo Lombardo (SR-Tiget) Friday, Oct 11th 2024, at 15.30 BST. The title "Programming Gene Expression by Targeted Epigenetic Editing" Join us at @blizard_inst / online link qmul.ac.uk/epigenetics/ev…
It’s a lonely job, leading a research group (professor, principal investigator, group leader – whatever you call it). You talk all day with everyone, but you’re mostly alone with the doubts and risks of the biggest decisions. Doesn’t have to be this way and I’d love to change it.
The radial positioning of genomic loci, i.e. how far they are from the nuclear lamina has been associated with genome structure and function for several decades. But in genomics everything is correlated, e.g. radial positioning with genomic compartments with gene activity etc
Congratulations to the authors 4 finally putting this decade-long ❓ to rest. @NatureMedicine We can all sleep better (or worse 😬) tonight, knowing CH causes atherosclerosis & not the other way around. That’s some pretty “determinate” potential, I’d say 😉 TET2> DNMT3A & of…
We are still looking for a postdoctoral candidate, previous experience with Transposable Elements and/or chromatin would be great, but also other backgrounds like EvoDevo please get in touch, we work on many different systems and topics, new advert here: qmul-jobs.tal.net/vx/mobile-0/ap…
We have a 2y postdoc position open in my group. The profile is quite broad, from bioinformatics to molecular biology. If you are interested in giant virus endogenization, EvoDevo, epigenetics and evolution, do apply and gent in touch. Please RT. Details: qmul.ac.uk/jobs/vacancies…
The most important reason to treat people well is not what you'll get in return. It's who you hope to become. Kindness is not about reciprocity or karma. It's about character. Civility doesn't need to be justified with consequences. Respecting others is the right thing to do.
This position is now re-advertised until June 16th. Please share or apply!

A brave woman, who contrary to expectations succeeded to the highest ranks, exposes ugly aspects of academic research. The hope was that these traits are restricted to the business world, and would not contaminate to this extent the purest of human endeavours.
This is interesting. Should I interpret that @mbeisen did all these not-so-good things to succeed? And any other science leader too? Or are they exceptions? If they are I guess all leaders think they are that exception. Or maybe I am just deeply confused, wrong and lost?

Our pandemic project is finally out @ryan_e_mills ! nature.com/articles/s4146… Once we were able to look at enough single neuronal genomes we found that many have wildly aberrant genomes.
Super excited about our new paper on human Ribosomal DNA copy number (rDNA CN) in Cell Genomics! cell.com/cell-genomics/…
