Reminder that science is political whether you like it or not. Politics define how we are funded and what we are funded for. Politics define what we are able to study. Politics define who will be allowed in our labs and workplaces. Politics define with whom we can collaborate.
Our lab is looking for a postdoc @uwgenome/@UW/@UWISCRM! We tackle a wide range of biological Qs from cell-specific responses to perturbation to molecular consequences of aging. We also work hard on new #TeamMassSpec methods to scale the # of proteomics samples we can analyze.
Do you use PNGase F to remove glycans from your peptides? Do you worry about spontaneous deamidation occurring? 🤔Then you should check out this recent preprint from @riley_research where we highlight that buffer choice influences artificial deamidation tinyurl.com/2sfphf29

I can’t explain it but this image makes me want to go to a conference where people exchange tiny posters with QR codes on the back to the full poster
Very helpful! But consider colorblind-friendly color palettes 🎨 ggpubfigs only supports colorblind-friendly color palettes, so it is something users don't even need to think about :D github.com/JLSteenwyk/ggp… x.com/tangming2005/s…

Just put together a simple guide on how to vectorize R plots in PowerPoint. Check out my first Medium article 🥳 nalinan.medium.com/how-to-vectori…
It took me SEVEN years to figure out that you can save a ggplot as a vectorized .svg file ggsave("file.svg"). The svg file can be opened on powerpoint and it will be completely vectorized, even text are still recognized as text boxes! No more recreating plots on illustrator!!!!!
We have a new preprint showcasing work led by @EmmajayS14 and @VethTim that uses a real-time library search to classify precursor ions as potential N- or O-glycopeptides for on-the-fly decisions abt fragmentation. We call this approach Autonomous Dissociation-type Selection (ADS)
🚀 Exciting News! 🚀We're thrilled to announce the release of our first pre-print publication from @riley_research! 🎉 Check it out here: doi.org/10.26434/chemr…

Very happy to announce a publication from my PhD work (@CmCzekster) with incredible collaborators to immobilize CDPSs for improved biocatalysis 😄 pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
The latest issue of Journal of Proteome Research is live! On the cover: "Celebrating Women in Proteomics and Metabolomics" Read it here: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…

New analysis from the @royalsociety shows just how high UK visa costs for researchers are compared to upfront costs for similar visa routes in 13 other countries. Here, we take a look at how the UK compares to countries in the G7 included in the analysis 🔍⤵️ 1/5
#ASMS2024 is the @riley_research group’s first ASMS together, and it’s been a great one so far. A fun day at Disneyland on Saturday, and the group surprised me at my talk today with shirts! Too awesome. Posters from everyone coming up on Wed and Thurs. Be sure to come say hi!
#ASMS2024 is quickly approaching and we are fully ionized, charged, and ready to go (to the detector)!!
This review on mass spec instrumentation in proteomics is now available @an_chem, which includes updates from the original pre-print. We hope it can be useful! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
The #TeamMassSpec world has seen exciting instrumentation advances in the past few years that have changed how we interrogate the proteome. We reviewed modern MS instrument platforms and the acquisition strategies they enable. Now available on @ChemRxiv: doi.org/10.26434/chemr…
Our postdoc @VethTim has a new publication out from his graduate work with @hecklab et al. look at kinome activity remodeling upon viral infection. Super cool! Congrats, Tim! sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
EpiPens are toxic in space and NASA didn't know! In fact, a group of elementary school students figured it out. Here's the story 🧵
This is awful.
From today, the majority of foreign university students cannot bring family members to the UK. In 2024, we’re already delivering for the British people.
Thrilled to have joined the Riley Research Group earlier this year 😄 excited to be involved in this super interesting research in 2024 🎉
2023 has been exciting! It is our first year @UWChemistry and there is much to celebrate. Our biggest celebrations are new additions to the group! Check out new lab members below, and read more here: riley-research.com With a great group like this, 2024 is going to be fun!
