Disgraceful tactics and complete disregard for patient safety. Bank workers only exist because there are gaps to be filled in order to maintain a safe service, and they often already work 48hrs on rotas. Trusts should be doing all they can to reward their efforts. #CheapNotSafe

We strongly oppose @MFTnhs decision to not pay for breaks for locum shifts. If doctors are expected to be available throughout their shift, they must be paid for the full duration. Doctors will not work for free.

We are deeply disappointed that @RWT_NHS and @WalsallHcareNHS have chosen to remove paid breaks for locum doctors, ignoring strong opposition from LNC reps earlier this month. Doctors are already overworked and underpaid. We call for an immediate reversal of this decision.

Gee, I wonder why NHS trusts refuse to pay locum staff properly but have no problem paying third-party companies millions to enforce lower rates? Answer: it's because doctors aren't meant to have that money. It's meant to be profits for some business owner or their shareholders.

This makes my so angry. Do you not care shifts go uncovered and patients are put at risk? The audacity to suggest staff should just accept worse pay for identical work and just get on with it shows how tone deaf this “strategy” is. Absolute lack of respect towards staff.
